December 21 from 7-9 p.m. at the church on Cleveland Avenue (Highway 161), Kings Mountain. In case of rain. the event will be cancelled. The church will have its Christmas musical service on December 24 at 11 a.m. Christmas Eve LJ service planned Long Creek Presbyterian Church will host a Christmas Eve candle- light and communion service December 24 at 9 p.m. The service will feature music, Christmas car- ols, Holy Communion, as well as a traditional candle lighting ceremo- ny. The public is invited to attend. The offering will go to the "Books for Guatemala Christmas Project” which provides books for churches, schools and a seminary in Guatemala. Long Creek Church is a church partner with Jesus El Buen Pastor church in Guatemala. Long Creek Presbyterian Church is located off Highway 161 at the corner of Lewis Farm Road and Long Creek Road. Advent program at St. Matthew's St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 201 North Piedmont Avenue, Kings Mountain, will sponsor its annual Advent-Christmas evening December 17 beginning at 5 p.m. At 5 p.m., the public is invited to attend a special presentation led by an cight-piece youth orchestra from the church youth group, which will be playing traditional music. A color slide presentation of var- ious Chrismons will be led by oth- er youth. Chrismons will decorate the church's two trees in the chan- cel of the church. These ancient symbols tell much about God and the coming birth of Jesus Christ. The elementary school classes will present a memorized presenta- tion df the Christmas story from Saint Luke's Gospel. Finally, everyone will gather in the fellowship hall for a covered dish meal. A special visitor will share presents with the children of the Sunday School. Rose of Bethlehem set at Macedonia The Christmas Choir of Macedonia Baptist Church, 1101 South Battleground Avenue, Kings Mountain, will present the contem- porary Christmas musical "Rose of Bethlehem" Saturday, December 16 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, December 17 at 6 p.m. The hour-long presentation is told through the eyes of Mary, Jesus' mother. The 35-member choir includes adults, youth and children and is under the direction of Rev. Larry Donaldson, Minister of Education, Youth and Music. Rev. David Philbeck, pastor, in- vites the public. Christmas musicale at First Presbyterian A Christmas musicale, "Tell Me The Story," will be presented at 6:30 p.m. ‘Sunday at First Presbyterian Church fellowship hall. The program by the choirs from Cherub through high school age will be directed by Shirley Austin and Poppy McGill. After the program. the warm tree in the recreation building will be decorated with scarves. gloves and other items to be presented to needy families at Christmas. Santa Claus will be on hand and refresh- ments will be served. The public is invited. Church Briefs City of Light at KM Baptist The Adult Choir of Kings Mountain Baptist Church, under the direction of Mrs. Angela Zimmerman, will present the Christmas musical "The City of Light" at 11 a.m. on Sunday, December 17. The Tom Fettke musical uses both music and dramatic mono- logue to tell the Christmas story from the point of view of several Biblical characters. Isaiah, the prophet who foretold Jesus’ birth, will be portrayed by Raeford White. Tom Tate will bring the innkeeper's perspective and Ed Braunns tells of the birth from the shepherd's point of view. Mary, Jesus' mother, will be played by Amber Tate. The musical does- n't end with the traditional Christmas story, but Karen Bennett will show how a person living to- day might respond. The music includes both familiar carols and original compositions designed to bring the Christmas story to life. Christmas program at Nazarene Church The children of First Church of the Nazarene, 405 S. Cherokee Street, Kings Mountain will pre- sent their Christmas program of recitations and special music dur- ing the 11 a.m. worship service Sunday, December 17. The program will be under the direction of Debbie Baity and Sherran Cameron. Children to sing at Second Baptist The King's Kids Children's Choir will present "It's Christmas, All over the World" WEdnesday, December 20 at 7:30 p.m. at Second Baptist Church, Kings Mountain. "You'll worship, chuckle, and worship as Captain Christmas and his crew take you on a trip around the world in search of the real Christmas," said Rev. Eugene Land, pastor. The public is invited. Musical slated at Second Baptist "Hallelujah, Christ Jesus-.is Born" will be presented by the Praise and Worship Sanctuary Choir of Second Baptist Church Sunday, December 24 at 6 p.m. "This wonderful Christmas wor- ship musical will lead our hearts to worship the wonderful, blessed Savior, Jesus Christ, whom we cel- ebrate," said Rev.
