balloon, the balloon was blown up
without bursting. Colorful bubbles
floated all over the gymnasium in
one scientific presentation.Firth,

said he became curious at the age
of six.
"Our vacuum cleaner exploded
and Dad gave it to me to take the
hose off. I spinned the hose and it
5 made a cool sound and I learned
one of the laws of acoustics," he
said.
Firth had no trouble bending his

tall frame to change the back-
ground music and enlisted the help
of students to pick up several balls
and other objects he purposely
dropped on the floor. After each
student participated in the project,
he encouraged the student to bow
from the waist and the audience
gave him or her loud applause.
For five years Frith has traveled
with the show, four times around
the the United States and three
times across Canada. He also plans
to travel into Taiwan and Korea.
"It shows that Science can be
fun and a learning experience too, "
said Board of Education member
Shearra Miller who was standing
with a number of adults in the au-
dience.
Firth said he planned the pro-
gram so the students could have
fun and even laugh at the expense
of their teachers, including the
coach who dressed in a white coat
and a black hat to play a tune using
the simplest of homemade instru-
ments.
