IPE ERAS ERLE THIN uE Weddings ALD - Thursday, January 25, 1996 Wiggins and Charles Shan Ford. The Rev. Todd Reynolds officiated the 2 p.m. cere- mony. Organist Jewell Wilson and vocalists Gail Lipe and Nancy Gardner presented the nuptial music. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She chose Amy Greene of Shelby as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were the bridegroom's sister, Audrey Ford of Kings Mountain, and Halie Porter and Jennifer Cantrell, both of Shelby. The bridegroom's father was best man. Ushers were the bride's brother, Jacob Wiggins, all of Shelby, and both of Kings Chuck Wheeler and Donnie Greene, Chris Powell and Todd Scism, Mountain, Dee Yarboro attended the register, and Jane Ellington was wedding director, Chelsea Chapman served as flower girl. Valerie Morgan distributed programs and Nikki Harmon distributed birdseed bags. The bride's parents hosted the reception after the ceremony at The Party Barn in Kings Mountain. Decorations were in hunter green and burgundy. The bride is the daughter of Bruce and- Donna Wiggins of Shelby and the granddaughter of Don and Jackie Greene and Yates and Lucille Wiggins, all of Shelby. A 1995 graduate of Crest High School, she is employed with Cablelink in Kings Mountain. Rocky and Judy Ford of Kings Mountain are parents of the bridegroom who is the grandson of Erskin and Daphine Ware and Pearl Ford, all of Kings Mountain, and the late Charles William Ford. He graduated from Kings Mountain High School The Clubs Mountain. KM VFW post to organize auxiliary An organizational meeting of an auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #9811, Kings Mountain, will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, January 25 at the post home on Margrace Road. 'VEW Post Commander J.R. Payne invites members of Post #9811 and their eligible family members to attend. Special guests will be Department President Dorothy Whisnant of Morganton Unit #5362 and Department Chief of Staff Elsie M. Shook, Past Department President and member of Hickory Unit #1957. The Ladies Auxiliary to the VEW has a nation- al membership of 765,283 ladies belonging and working through more than 7,000 auxiliary units. A mother, wife, widow, sister, daughter, grandmother or grand- daughter of a veteran who is eligi- ble for the VFW can join the Ladies Auxiliary and become in- volved in a variety of patriotic, community and public service pro- grams. "Visits to Veterans hospi- tals, service to needy veterans and their families are high on the list of programs the membership is in- volved in," states 14th District President Pansie Peterson, who will also attend. Choral Society begins fund drive The Gaston Choral Society has begun its 1996 area patron drive. ‘The Choral Society was founded in 1968 and is sponsored by the Grass Roots Program of the North Carolina Arts Council, and the Arts Fund of Gaston County. The Gaston Choral Society con- tributes to the musical cultural at- mosphere of the area by providing two concerts a year (spring and Christmas) and by working on community outreach programs. In principle and in practice, the soci- ety values and seeks a diverse membership. Four different categories of pa- trons are offered, including Whole Note (20 tickets to each concert), $100; Half Note (10 tickets to each concert), $50; Quarter Note (five tickets to each concert), $25; and Eighth Note (two tickets to each Choral Society spring concert set The Gaston Choral Society's spring concert will be held May 2 at Hunter Huss High School and will feature "Songs for a Spring Evening." Bloodmobile visits set in KM, county The American Red Cross will sponsor bloodmobile visits to sev- eral Cleveland County sites in February. : February 3, the bloodmobile will be at Friendship Methodist Church in Fallston from 12:30-6 p.m. The visit is in honor of Jan Hamrick. On February 8, the bloodmobile will be at First Baptist Church in Kings Mountain from 2:30-7.p.m. On February 13, the bloodmo- bile will visit the fire department on Grover Street, Shelby, from 12:30-6 p.m. The event, which is billed as the second annual Valentine's Bloodmobile, is spon- sored by the Shelby Fire Department and Shelby Headline News.
