Wanda B. Bell of Mary's Grove Church Road was named to the President's List. To make the list, one must achieve a minimum grade point average for the semester of 4.0. complete a minimum of 12 semester credits on a graded basis, and have no failing or incomplete grades for the semester. Making the Dean's List from Kings Mountain were Jimmy Greg Carpenter, Kerry-Lynn Cooper of Lewis Farm Road, Jimmy D. Crawford Jr. of Marigold Avenue, Bing N. Davis, Jose L. Mezy of King Street, and John S. Natale of Farris Road. To qualify for the list, one must achieve a minimum grade point average of 3.40, complete a minimum of 12 semester credits on a graded basis, and have no failing or incomplete grades for the semester. Apply by March 15 for $1,000 scholarships High school students with a grade point average of B or better and college students with a GPA of B plus or better who are U. S. citi- zens interested in applying for $1,000 college scholarships should request applications by March 15 from Educational Communications Scholarship Foundation. All requests must include the student's name, permanent home address, city, State, zip code, name of school, approximate grade point average and year in school. A total of $180,000 will be awarded. Rescue, Fire College to be held Feb. 3-4 The second annual Cleveland County Fire and Rescue College will be held February 3 and 4 at Cleveland Community College. A wide variety of course selec- tion is available. MICHAEL HUMPHRIES Humphries on Dean's List Michael Humphries, son of Betty’ Ann and Calvin Humphries of Kings Mountain, is listed on the first semester Dean's List at Campbell University where he is a freshman. Humphries is a 1995 honor grad- uate of Kings Mountain High School where he was active in the Marching and Concert Bands. At Campbell he is active in the Pep Band and is majoring in phar- macy. Humphries is the grandson of Mrs. Mae Humphries and the late Thomas Humphries and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Styers, all of Kings Mountain. Beekeeping school set in Lincolnton The Beekeepers Association of Lincoln and Cleveland Counties, in cooperation with the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service, will host a beekeeping school Feb. 13-March 12 at the Citizens Center, 115 W. Main St., Lincolnton. Five weekly classes will be held at 7 p.m. each Tuesday and will lead to certification for both novice and advanced beekeepers. Such topics as hive management, honey ‘production, bee pests and diseases, swarming and beekeeping equip- ment will be explored. Cost is $10 for non-members and free to members of the Beekeepers Association of Lincoln and Cleveland Counties. Reservations may be made by call- ing 739-3322 in Cleveland County, - or 276-3157 in Lincoln County.
