St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Wilkesboro was the
setting for the recent wedding uniting Kellene Wells
Mize and Robert "Bob" Gary Bock Jr.
The bride is the daughter of Steve and Betsy Wells
of Kings Mountain and Rosemary Benge of Millers
Creek and granddaughter of Lucy Wells of Kings
Mountain and the late Harold Wells and Mabel Eury of
Raleigh and the late Dumas Eury. She is a graduate of
West Wilkes High School and earned her undergradu-
ate degree in political science and communications and

Rev. Ken Asel officiated the 2 p.m. ceremony
which included traditional organ music and the reading
of the Acoprypha from Tobias and St. Mark. The
bridal couple took communion and chose to combine
in the service the religious adoption by the bridegroom
of the bride's two children.
Candace "Charlie" Russell of West Jefferson was
matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Amy Bridger of
Boone and Breta Severt of Wilkesboro. They wore tea-
length dresses of royal blue satin accented by a lace
jacquard jacket and white slippers. They carried bou-
quets of white lilies, daisies and white carnations.
Roy Lightfoot of Lincolnton was best man. Ushers
were the bride's brothers, Hart and Brett Wells of
Kings Mountain. They were attired in light gray tuxe-
dos.
The bride's daughter, Emily Mize, was flower girl.
She wore a long antique white satin dress overlaid
with lace and carried a basket of flower petals.
The bride's son, Aaron Mize, was ringbearer. He
wore a child's gray tuxedo.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a white satin
tea-length gown handmade by her paternal grandmoth-
er, Lucille Wells of Kings Mountain. Seed pearls en-
hanced the Sweetheart neckline and the back bodice
was accented by a keyhole design enhanced by pearls.
She carried a bouquet of white roses, daisies, day
lilies, fern and ivy. The handkerchief she carried for
"something old and something blue" had belonged to
her late step-grandmother Mrs. Blannie Hart of
Lansing and for "something borrowed" she wore her
mother's pearl earrings and for "something new" she
wore her formal wedding gown.
The bride and bridegroom hosted the reception after
the ceremony in the church fellowship hall. The royal
blue and white motif of the wedding featured the
theme, "Springtime in the Park." Blue hydrangeas,
daisies and blue ribbon decorated the windows of the
fellowship hall and helium-filled royal blue and white
balloons were used throughout the hall.
The three-tier wedding cake baked by Laura Brooks
of Millers Creek was topped by a miniature bridal cou-
ple in a gazebo. The tablecloth on the main refresh-
ment table was handmade by the bride's late great-
great grandmother Cora Hayes of Kings Mountain and
was decorated with blue hydrangeas, daisies and
baby's breath. Each table was arranged with a white
tablecloth and centered with a bud vase of daisies and
carnations. The gift table was covered with a table-
cloth which was a wedding gift to the bride's father
and stepmother from the bride's step-great aunt, the
late Lillian Darnell of Ashe County.
The bride's cousins Linda Wells Holland of Kings
Mountain and Debbie Wells Cooke of Casar and the
bride's aunt Nancy Wells of Kings Mountain and the
bride's childhood friend Cindy Bolds Coffey of Millers
Creek served refreshments.

Mountain videotaped the wedding and reception.
