The Postal Service letter carrier will pick up food for the local food bank. The nationwide effort fills local food bank pantries through the summer months when levels are traditionally low. "Many families, seniors, and in- dividuals depend on food banks to help put meals on the table," said KM Postmaster Bob Howard. "On Saturday, May 11, everyone will have a chance to help keep the food connection operating through the summer by leaving non-perish- able food donations in a bag in their mailbox. The letter carrier will deliver it to the local food bank." Howard said last year's effort to- taled more than 44 million pounds of food and was an overwhelming success. "We anticipate even greater suc- cess in this year's drive," he said. "Donating has never been easier."
