Bolin All-Conference Crissy Bolin, freshman catcher for Crest HIgh School, was named 4-A All-Conference player this week. Crissy made the all tournament team in both the Cleveland County Easter Tournament and the Crest Invitational Tournament. Teammates also chose Laura Bebe, center fielder; Lindsay Dellinger, short stop;' and Christie Tessneer, pitcher, for awards. Shea White received the coaches award at the annual athletic event. "It's such an honor to receive the All-Conference Award, espe- cially as a freshman," said Crissy who attributed her achievements to hard work and dedication and to Coach Suzanne Grayson who teaches discipline and team play. "Every player has an important role on the team and you win or lose as a team so every player is just as vital as another," said Crissy. "I look forward to learning more about fast pitch softball." Grayson also presented Crissy with the only Crest homerun hit ball Bolin hit against Freedom. A Scholar Athlete, Crissy is a member of Who's Who. She is the ‘daughter of Danny and Melany Bolin of Kings Mountain and granddaughter of Bill and Mary Clark and JV and Rene Bolin. Golf Tournament to benefit Boys Club A Captain's Choice golf tourna- ment will be sponsored by the Kings Mountain Boys Club June 15 at Crowders Mountain Golf & Country Club. Four man teams will play Captain's Choice and teams must have a combined handicap of 40 or higher with only one player with a 7 handicap or less. The field will be limited to the first 30 teams, 120 players. There will be an 8:30 a.m. shot- gun start. Entry fee, which includes cart and green fees, light breakfast, lunch after the round and many prizes, is $45 per person. Entries will be accepted until 5 p.m. June 6 with Anna Freeman, 1706 St. Mark's Church Rd., Crouse, 28033. All proceeds benefit the Kings Mountain Boys Club. Deadline is Friday to register for Oldtimers Friday is the deadline to register to play in the June 7 second annual old-timers baseball game at Kings Mountain High School. Anyone who played varsity baseball -at Kings Mountain,; Grover, and Bethware Hlgh Schools prior to 1981 is invited to participate. The sponsoring Boosters Club will begin serving a hamburger/hotdog supper with all the trimmings at the baseball field at 5 p.m. Batting practice will also begin at 5 p.m. Entry fee will be to purchase a oldtimers shirt to be worn during the game. Register now for soccer camps Several weeks of soccer camp will be offered this summer for both the experienced and inexperi- enced player. June 17-21 and July 15-19 are the dates for camp at Graham Elementary School in Shelby. Davidson Park in Kings Mountain will be a beehive of activity July 22-26.. Dan Potter, Kings Mountain High School coach, is camp direc- tor. Camp hours will run from 9 a.m. until noon with activities to devel- op confidence and skill. Each day the campers will be trained in the proper techniques of the game as well as a fundamental approach to positioning. BB&T, Southern ink agreements Southern National Corporation and Customer Access Resources of Raleigh announced today the sign- ing of a definitive agreement. The agreement will be account- ed for as a purchase transaction whereby Branch Banking and Trust Company, the principal subsidiary of Southern National, will own 60 percent of the common stock. Plenty of attention will be provided for every camper as there will be a camper to counselor ratio of 10-1. All three camps are co-ed and will include campers rom ages 6-13. An all girls camp will be held in Shelby at Graham School the week of July 15-19 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Camp registration forms can be picked up at Sagesport or call 734-0563. Pro wrestling back at Community Center Pro wrestling is returning to the Kings Mountain Community Center Saturday at 8 p.m. The Main Event will be "any- thing goes," a street fight using chairs, tables, garbage cans, etc. between The American GI and Dozer versus Jeff Victory and Madd Dog with Buddy Shane, Krazy Kane Atemus versus Scotty Hot Body and many more. Tickets are $5 in advance or $6 at the door for adults and $4 for children 6-12. Children under 6 are admitted free. The tickets may be purchased at Floating Affections or the Community Center. T-Ball players excell in sport Kevin Gann was outstanding in batting, Christian Yount was out- standing outfielder and Christopher Humphries was outstanding in leadership in the dugout for the White Sox/Braves T-Ball matchup. The White/Orioles match was led by Hogan Sellers with a triple and Brandon Mitchell and Jeffrey Howell was outstanding infielder. B&P leaders surveying businesses The survey committee for the newly-organized Kings Mountain Business and Professional Association is gathering question- naires and soliciting ideas for pro- motion of business from its mem- bers.
