Jones plans to study pedintrle nursing. Amanda's father is plant engi- neer at the Inco Alloys Welding Products Company division of Inco Alloys in Newton. Alloys present- ed three four year $2,000 scholar- ships this year to outstanding se- nior students who are children of employees and retirees. The awards are based on grades, col- | lege entrance exam scores, essay writing quality, character and ex- tracurricular and community activi- ties. : This is the 40th year that Inco Alloys has awarded scholarships. Inco Alloys is the world's leading producer of high-performance al- loys, with manufacturing facilities in the U.S. and Europe. Anthony attends NCCAT Seminar Janet B. Anthony, a kindergarten teacher at Bethware School, recent- ly attended a seminar at the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching. Area students to be pinned Three students from Cleveland County are among the 18 medical assistants who will be pinned at ceremonies by the Gaston College Medical Assisting Program May 29 at 7:30 p.m. in Myers Center Auditorium at Gaston College. They are Randi Lee Carroll and Stephanie’ Ann Phillips, both of Kings Mountain, and Leah Elizabeth Carpenter of Lawndale. Head Start sets annual picnic The Cleveland County Head Start Program will hold the annual picnic May 27 at Holly Oak Park. More than 400 people are expected to attend the events which begin at 10:30 a.m. Puppetry and singing with Sharon Clarke from Hildebran, a petting; zoo, storytelling by Susan Melton and a reading project will be featured. Wells is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Wells, Goforth is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Goforth and Bridges is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Bridges. All three students are honor students and active in numerous extra-curricular activities on campus.
