Obituaries THE KINGS MOUNTAIN HERALD LOUISE H. MARTIN Mrs. Louise Hughes Martin, 80, of 1965 Bethlehem Rd., died August 4, 1996 at Rutherfordton Hospital. A native County, she was the widow of Ermon C. Martin and the daughter of the late William Gordon and Florence Wells Hughes. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church and had served as Worthy Matron of Kings Mountain Chapter 123, Order of the Eastern Star. She was a retired employee of Kings Mountain Savings & Loan Association. Surviving are one son, Robert E. "Bob" Martin of Kings Mountain; one brother, Robert Hughes of Dunnellon, Fl.; and four sisters, Mrs. Ruby Baker of Kings Mountain, Mrs. Lucy Boone of Radford, Va., Mrs. Marie Carroll of Asheboro and Mrs. Victoria Atchley of Raleigh. The funeral was conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Harris Memorial Chapel by Dr. John Sloan. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Temple Baptist Church, 612 N. A native “of = Cherokee County, SC, she was the daugh- ter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John W. Gladden Sr. of Kings Mountain and. moved.to the Flint area in 1953. She was a member of Atlas Community Baptist Church and Goodrich Senior Citizens and retired after 27 years with Wheelock Memorial Hospital. Surviving are one daughter, Carol and husband Bob Cunningham of Holly; three sons, Michael E. McAbee of Burton, Doug McAbee and wife Laurie of Goodrich and Gerald Reid McAbee of Atlas; 10 grandchildren, Lisa, Mike and Linda Cunningham, Michael L., Jeremy, Kitty, Patrick, Jay and Josh McAbee and Jennifer Skandarsky; four great-grand- children, Jennifer, Ashleigh, Jordan and Amber; five sisters, Ozelle Dixon and Janice Jernigan, both of Charlotte; Lucille Falls of Glen Burnie, Md., Louise Fisher of Raleigh and Joyce Dumas of Knoxville, Tn.; three brothers, John Gladden Jr. and Tim Gladden, both of Kings Mountain, and Carl Gladden of Fredericksburg, Va.; her aunt, Pearl McIntosh of Kings Mountain; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam McAbee in 1985; her parents, two brothers, Denver and Paul Gladden and one great-grand- son. The funeral will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. at Swartz Funeral Home by Rev. Michael Halliburton. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
