TERE 4B ScHooL HAPPENINGS KMHS upperclassmen give advice to freshmen When Jaquitha Reid asked her high school keyboarding students to write memos to in- coming freshmen she didn't know what to expect. Here are some of the sugges- tions made to underclassmen from upperclassmen. - Lunch room food is a lot bet- ter than the middle school food. This is real food, the chicken ~ sandwiches are great but some- times the bread is dry. The piz- za is nice and thick. About get- ting flushed, you'll just have to watch your backs when you go into the restrooms. Justin Harrelson High School is a whole lots different from middle school. Just watch out for those big people and teachers. If you did- n't start problems in middle school you don't have to worry about anything. Sandy Perry Teachers won't put up with any crap at the high school. The high school is the big game. The only thing I really hated was block scheduling but now I'm used to it I'm practicing for col- lege and that's my next big game. Andy Leigh When I was preparing to come to the big Kings Mountain High I just knew I was going to get lost and picked on because I'm short. It's not like that. Many people act like the high school is a dangerous place but it isn't true that they flush ninth graders. Tot Floyd Block scheduling will throw you off course for a little while but you'll be able to make new friends and see different ones. Enjoy four years at the high school because they will fly by. Linda Phannareth Expect a fun year and a lot more freedom. It's a lot more fun than middle school. You can go to lunch by yourself and not even be assigned a seat. People will pick on you because you are a freshman but everyone was once a freshman. If you adjusted well this year you shouldn't have a problem deal- ing with all the stress that comes along with school in general. Shannon Ward Follow through with your re- sponsibilities and you will be productive and high school will be an easy accomplishment. Will Hendricks High School is not really as terrible as people might tell you. It's kind of confusing at first but you get the hang of it pretty quickly. Things like sports and clubs are really good to get into. Marty Goforth Stay on the right path and you will see much success and don't let anyone run over you. Joshua McLaughlin Sporting activities are excit- ing. To watch them is great but to participate is divine. Blair Cannon Class of 2000, you will en- counter many difficulties and you have three more years to go. Give some respect to the up- perclassmen and you will re- ceive respect. Kyle Bolivar Never bug your friends and teachers. Follow the rules and you will be all right. Kendrick Bell Start off on the right foot. Don't hang around with the wrong" crowd. Richie Wells Act like a mature adult. These are true words of experience. ar Jonathan Anders Block scheduling is the best thing that ever happened to KMHS. Don't try to grow up too fast be- cause you will be an adult soon enough. Josh Sellers Let's talk about the classes, plain and simple. Behave or get out. Billy Short This year is called the survival of the fittest. The next years will be better. Ty Toney Lunch is better at the middle school but you can look for- ward to more freedom, choice of classes and some fun classes. Jayda Wallace You will study more and every- thing is different. But it's worth it. Krista Short The teachers won't babysit you. Next year will be getting you closer and closer to college. Tyler Ellis High School is really a lot of fun. Everyone knows that if you want to get anywhere in life school is the answer and it is. Wendy Moore Be on time and do your work and treat your classmates and teachers as you want them to treat you. Lawanda Smarr If you are a troublemaker with a big mouth you had best stay home. The penalties for fighting are strict. First lunch is great if you are lucky enough to get it, fourth lunch is cold. Paula Mercer You have six minutes to change classes but without rules in this world, not to men- tion school, it would be chaos. Michelle King Expect to get lost. Expect to hear weird things the first cou- ple of days. You will feel more at home after a few weeks.
