Page 2A 3 Obituaries Mildred B. Sheppard, 82, 422 Cherokee Street, Kings Mountain, died October 25, 1996 at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain. A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Alvie and Justina Sheppard Bradley and wife of the late Elbert Sheppard. She was a retired textile em- ployee and a member and for- mer pianist of Cherokee Street Baptist Church. She is survived by her nieces, Evelynn Champion of Gastonia and Lorene Cain of Jonesboro, Ga.; and nephews, Ernest Champion of Madisonville, Ky. and Perry Champion of Kings Mountain. The funeral was condita by the Rev. Gene Leigh Sunday... at 2 p.m. at Cherokee Baptist Church. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. ELMER HUNTSINGER ~ Elmer Leroy _ Peanut’ Huntsinger Jr., 47, 212 Charles { Street Apt. 6, Kings Mountain, / died October 22, 1996 at Gaston. | Memorial Hospital in Gastonia. A native of Gaston County, i he was a landscaper and \ worked in construction. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Vietnam for 18 months. He attended the Church of God. He is survived by his parents, Elmer Leroy and Ruby Mullinax Huntsinger Sr. of the home; daughters, Mary Renay Huntsinger of California and Kimberly Nicole Huntsinger of Gastonia; sister, Phyllis Joan. Lail of Gastonia; and grandson, ~~ M ~~" Green Valley Baptist Church Andrew Scott Wilson. The funeral was conducted by the Rev. Wayne Kirk Friday at 2 p.m. at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home Chapel in Bessemer City. Burial was in Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery. Blanton and Florence Thomas Blanton of Kings Mountain. He was also preced- ed in death by his sisters, May Willodean "Dean" Blanton Parris, Marcelle Blanton Navy Reeves, and Sylvia Blanton Doggett; and his brother, Edward "Jack" Blanton. He was a member: of Green Valley Baptist Church. He was an Army Air Corp veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was retired from Sears Furniture Sales after 25 years of service. He had lived in Las Vegas for 40 years. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Nova Blanton of Las Vegas; daughters, Lyn Lyon of Las Vegas, Sandra Blanton Packard and husband Vic of Shelby, Rita Ann Blanton Stratton and husband Robert of Portland, OR, and Cerese Lee Blanton of Kings Mountain; son, Ken Hale and wife Debi of Kingman, AZ; sister, Verla Blanton Henderson of Palm Coast, FL; grandchildren, Timathe Hale Jones of Las ‘of Shelby, Paul Alan Packard and wife Kim of Shelby, indsay ‘Marie Stratton of Portland, OR, Nicholas Burke Stratton of Portland, OR, Kiel Hale of Las Vegas, Kory Hale of Las Vegas, Dust-An Swalls of Kingman, AZ, and Kristin Swalls of Kingman, AZ; and great-grandchildren, Jacob Jones of Las Vegas and Ashley Jones of Las Vegas; and a num- ber of nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held Friday, October 25 at 6:30 p.m. at Green Valley Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Building Fund. A native of Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Essie Yoder Huss and Roland E. Huss. She was married to the late Paul Gann. She was employed by Reeves-Osage for 38 years. She is survived by her sons, Jimmy Ray Gann of Bessemer City and Roy Eugene Gann, Paul Dean Gann and Michael H. Gann of Kings Mountain; sisters, Earlene Fitzgerald of Gastonia and Barbara Fralick of Kings Mountain; 11 grandchil- dren and five great-grandchil- '. dren. A graveside service was con- ducted by the Rev. Terry Bird Friday at 3 p.m. at Mountain Rest Cemetery.
