Like any high school student ou have aspirations foryour bg Do.you take a job at the local “mill, or worksfor a burger joint? Is this all there is to look forward to in the '90s? Not for this Kings Mountain High School Student of the Month, Cheryl Fisher. ‘The above description, is anything but an accurate description of Cheryl Fisher, a senior at KMHS. Fisher's teachers praise her for "an excellent attitude," according to French Teacher Carol Ann Peeler. The problems in the job market do not discourage Fisher. This Kings Mountain native, is very active in her community. An honor roll stu- dent, Fisher is a member of KMHS's National Honor Society (NHS), ’ Beta, Future Teachers of America (FTA), and French club. Fisher is Vice President of the FTA, and serves as the Business Editor of the KMHS Yearbook. Fisher is a tutor at North Elementary School as well. i Sally Hendricks (Math Teacher) hails Fisher for being, "Very orga- nized, always willing to help and very reliable." : i Coming from a family of teachers, Fisher says, "I've always want- { ed to be a teacher. It's really neat. I like being noticed by kids in town, and when they hug you and say 'I love you'." English Teacher, Betsy Wells brags, "[Fisher] is a delight to teach. Always pleasant, congenial, I'm delighted she's interested in teach- ing as an occupation.” CEE TYRES SAT CER £3 BB nme mn magn mm Fisher has a twin sister and says, "we look the same (more differ- ent now), but we are different people. It's really neat to have some- one so close. It is something to be thankful for." Future plans include attending school with her older brother, and inspiration, at Appalachian State University. "He is someone to look up to. He's a good guy.” She is working towards receiving a Teaching Fellows scholarship, and has already secured a $2000, per : year, Challenge Scholarship. 4 Out-of -School activities include, swimming, babysitting, and at- i tending church activities. "I have been on mission trips to Canada, New Orleans and Mobile, Alabama. My favorite was Canada." i Being picked as Student-of-the-Month, "surprised" Fisher. "I'm not competitive. I won't fight for something [awards]." i i i i i This Is Your BEST Opportunity To Re-establish Your Credit!
