JOHN BRADLEY MELTON (Holly Susan Harmon) Harmon-Melton First Baptist Church of Kings Mountain was the setting December 21, 1996 for the wedding of Holly Susan Harmon and John Bradley Melton. Dr. John W. Sloan Jr. officiated the ceremony for which Mike Sisk, organist; Mrs. Norma Pettus, pi- anist; Rev. Morris Jordan, vocal soloist; Christopher Cole, trumpeter; and Eric Myers, oboist, presented the nuptial music. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a formal gown of Candlelight Italian silk featuring a bodice of handsewn pearls and sequins and a long skirt with flowing train also trimmed in pearls and sequins. She carried a cas- cading bouquet of white roses, lilies and ivy. Mrs. Amanda H. Whetstine of Kings Mountain was matron of honor and bridesmaids were Kelli Bowen, Heather Bumgardner, Mrs. Erika R. Melton, Renee Moss and Amber Nichols, all of Kings Mountain, and Mrs. Michele H. Kale of Boilings Springs and Terri Robinson of Wilksboro. Junior bridesmaid was Abby Kates of Kings Mountain. All the attendants wore formal suits of Christmas red and carried gold baskets filled with greenery and holly. Adam Kates of Kings Mountain was ringbearer. Lauren Scott of Shelby was flower girl. The bridegroom's father was best man. Groomsmen were Jason Hughes, Kevin Melton, Jeffery Melton, Matthew Rikard, Scott Sheppard, See Melton; 2-B AMANDA CLINE THRIFT Thrift-Scism Mr. and Mrs. Toby L. Thrift announce the en- gagement of their daughter, Amanda Cline Thrift, to Lee Dixon Scism, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde E. Scism. Both families are of Shelby. The bride-elect is a 1991 graduate of Burns High School and earned her degree from Appalachian State University at Boone in 1995. She is Deputy Clerk with the Gaston County Clerk of Superior Court's Office. She is the grand- daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John D. Cline of Shelby and the late Mr. and Mrs. Thurman R. Thrift of Shelby. The bridegroom-to-be is a 1990 graduate of Burns High School and is self-employed as a grading contractor. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Clem Scism of Shelby and the late Mr. and Mrs G . L. Wright of Kings Mountain.
