The Marauders (16-8) got a 118 line and 317 set from Chris Hullender. The Odd Balls (12- 12) were led by Carol Raymor with a 118 line and 317 set. In another match, the High Rollers and Cherry Pickers split 4-4 to remain tied for third place with 10-14 records. Mark Abernathy rolled a 134 line and 341 set and Irene Ruley had a 124 line and 327 set for the High Rollers. John Dilling had a 123 line and 342 set and Zeke Rybczyk added a 117 line and 332 set for the Cherry Pickers. Outbackers take lead in duckpin bowling The Outbackers defeated Storm 6-2 Thursday night at Dilling Heating to take over first place in the Mixed Duckpin Bowling League standings. The Qutbackers are now 16-8, followed by the Hurricanes at 14-10, Alley Cats 10-14, and Storm 8-16. Chuck Ruley rolled a 126 line and 356 set to lead the Outbackers. Bobby Rathbone had a 113 line and 331 set and John Dilling added a 115 line and 306 set for the Storm. The Alley Cats knocked off previous leader the Hurricanes 6-2 behind a balanced scoring attack. Allen Myers led with a 120 line and 322 set, Bonnie Warren had a 107-308, and Irene Ruley added a 116-306. Baseball and softball registration at Center Kings Mountain Parks and Recreation Department is hold- ing baseball and softball regis- tration through March 3 at the Kings Mountain Community Center. Ages 5-18 may sign up. Registration will be held from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday. There is a $10 late regis- tration fee after March 3. For more information, call the Center at 739-9631 or 734-0449. Soccer registration at Community Center Spring soccer registration is currently being held at the Kings Mountain Community Center. The Greater Cleveland County Soccer Association has teams for both boys and girls between the ages of 5-15. Registration will end February 7 so schedules will be complet- ed for the games that will start the first week in March. Players will play a minimum seven-game schedule, conclud- ing with a championship tour- nament the last weekend in April. Most games will be played. in Kings Mountain with the exception of the final tour- nament and perhaps one other. The under six league lays games at the Community Center with the under 8, under 10, under 12 and under 14 teams playing at Davidson Park. The fee for registering is $25 for the first child, and $20 per additional child in the same family. Kisha Hamrick scored nine for Kings - Rutherford, - Page 7A and mailed to the Greater Cleveland County Soccer Association league office. 1 65th Golden Gloves at Charlotte Speedway The 65th annual Carolina’s Golden Gloves Championships will be held Friday and Saturday at Charlotte Motor Speedway's Speedway Club fifth floor ballroom. The event is sanctioned by U.S. Amateur Boxing, Inc., and will feature teams from the U.S. Marine Corps at Camp Lejeune and the U.S. Army at Fort Bragg. There will also be top civilian teams from Durham, Greensboro, and Wilmington. Action gets underway at 7:30 p-m. Ringside seats are $20 and general admission is $15. Two- day tickets are $30 and $20. Open division champions will advance to the Regional Championships in Knoxville, TN -Feb. 19-22, and the winner there advancing to the National Golden Gloves Championships in Denver, Colo. Jerry Cash selected football coach at East Jerry Cash has been named head football coach at East replacing Bill Smothers who resigned at the end of the past season after the Cavaliers went 0-10. Cash has 26 years experience as a head coach in South Carolina, including the past 13 at Chesnee. In 26 seasons as a head coach, he took his teams to the state playoffs 16 times, and three of his Chesnee teams played for the state champi- onship.
