the District School's Top Speller.
Mullinax wins KMMS spelling bee
Seventh grader Dustin
Mullinax is the Kings Mountain
District School's spelling
champ.
He outspelled 11 other Kings
Mountain Middle School stu-
dents Wednesday and competes
in the 43rd annual Charlotte
Observer Bee on February 20.
The state winner goes on to
Washington, DC for the nation-
al bee.
After 15 rounds of stiff com-
petition, David Moschler,
eighth grader, misspelled accel-
erate. Moschler, a member of
the Voyager team, spelled it in-
_correctly as excelerate.
Mullinax, a member of the
Whale team, correctly spelled
accelerate and then spelled
avalanche to cinch the title.
"We had a representative
from each team in the Bee and
were pleased with how well our
students spell," said Librarian
Holly Godfrey.
