Dwight Hamilton Edwards Jr.,
61, died January 29, 1997 at his
home.
A native of Washington D.C.,
he was the son of the late
Dwight H. and Faith Beam
Edwards Sr. He was a graduate
of Cherryville High School and
Indiana Wesleyan University

Bush, 37, 313 Church Drive,
died February 3, 1997 at
Carolinas Medical Center in
Charlotte.
A native ' of Cleveland
County, he was the son of the
late Clyde Haywood Bush. He
was a painter and a member of
Westover Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife,
Brenda Ledford Bush of Kings
Mountain; son, Stephen
Douglas Orr of Bessemer City;
mother, Barbara W. Bush of
Kings Mountain; and brothers,
Chuck Bush, David Martin and
Curt Bush, alll of Kings
Mountain.
The funeral will be conducted
by the Rev. Sam Snyder at 1
p.m. Thursday at Harris
Memorial Chapel. Burial will be
in Grover Cemetery.

Cherryville; son, Dwight H.
Edwards III of Sewickley, Pa.;
daughters and sons-in-law,
Janet and Robert Swofford of
Durham and Carol and Darryl
Dixon of Kings Mountain; three
grandchildren, Adam Dixon
and Jonathan and Rebecca
Swofford; brother, Charles
Edwards of Cherryville; and
brother and sister-in-law, David
and Pam Edwards of Kings
Mountain.
The funeral was conducted
by the Revs. Edwin Chriscoe,
Henry Williams and. Richard
Stanley Sr. at 2 p.m. Saturday at
Cherryville First Wesleyan
Church. Interment was in _
Mary's Grove Methodist
Church Cemetery, Cherryville.

WALTER GLADDEN
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Walter
Gerald Gladden, 61, a resident
of White Oak Manor, Shelby,
died February 4, 1997 at White
Oak Manor.
A native of Cleveland
County, he was the son of the
late Earl Odell and Ruby Morris
Gladden. He was a former truck
driver for Quality Exchange in
Kings Mountain and a member
of Christopher Road Baptist
Church, Shelby.
He is survived by his son,’
Dennis Gladden of Kings
Mountain; daughter, Kathy
Rabb of Kings Mountain; sister,
Betty Roper of Kings Mountain;
step-sisters, Joyce Hale and
Betty Howell of Kings
Mountain; six grandchildren
and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted
by the Rev. Larry Collins at 3
p-m. Thursday at Harris
Memorial Chapel. Burial will be
in Mountain Rest Cemetery.

Charles Ray "Charlie" Motes Jr.,
8, 800 Margrace Road, died
February 1, 1997.
A native of Cleveland
County, he was the son of
Charles R. Motes Sr. and
Sharline Olander Motes. He at-
tended Grover Elementary
School.
In addition to his parents, he
is survived by two brothers,
Jason of the home and Chuck of
Gastonia; a sister, Christine of
the home; grandparents,
Leonard and May Motes of
Winder, GA and Lindy and
Shirley Wise of Cleveland, OH;
and his great-grandparents,
John and Margaret Wise of
Cleveland, OH.
A graveside service was held
at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gaston
Memorial Park, Gastonia.

February 3, 1997 at Kings
Mountain Hospital.
A native of Gaston County,
he was the son of the late Susie
Lottie Scism Mayberry and
William Jackson Mayberry. He
was a retired textile worker and
farmer, and attended Crowders
Mountain Baptist Church.
He is survived by his sons,
Billy O. Mayberry, Marion Terry
Mayberry and Troy K.
Mayberry, all of Kings
Mountain; daughters, Minnie
Sue Mayberry of Lawndale and
Irma M. McAllister of Clover,

A native of Ysleta, TX, he was
the son of the late William Vane
and Ona Dean Stokes. He was a
retired construction worker and
a U.S. Army veteran of World
War II.
He is survived by his wife,

to end February 14
City workers will end the
current leaf pickup program on
February 14, according to Karl
Moss, Superintendent of Public
Works.
Moss said that currently loose
leaves are picked up at curb-
side. After February 14, leaves
must be placed in bags and left
on the curbside for pickup.
