——— Page 4B [Church Briefs | Crusade rally banquet February 20 at KMHS Dr. Dwight "Ike" Reighard of Atlanta will be the guest speaker at the rally banquet for the Jay Strack Impact Crusade of Kings Mountain Thursday, Feb. 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the Kings Mountain High School cafeteria. Dr. Reighard, a native North Carolinian, was ordained in the Southern Baptist Convention in 1975 and served as pastor of New Hope Baptist Church in Fayetteville, Ga. for 18 years. During that time, New Hope Church experienced in- credible growth and was noted in 1986 as the second fastest growing church in the Southern Baptist Convention and the fastest growing church of any denomination in the state of Georgia. During Dr. Reighard's ministry there, over 3,200 persons were baptized. Dr. Reighard has conducted seminars and preached for numer- ous Southern Baptist agencies and has served on the faculty of the Billy Graham School of Evangelism. His writings include one book, "Treasures from the Dark," and numer- ous articles in local and nationwide newspapers and magazines. He is a graduate of Luther Rice Seminary with a Doctor of Ministries degree and has also received honorary doctorates from Southern California and Immanuel Baptist Seminaries and Liberty University. Currently, he is senior associate pastor and pastor to a satellite congregation of First Baptist Church of Atlanta. The Jay Strack Impact Crusade of Kings Mountain is being spon- sored by the Kings Mountain Ministerial Association and will be held August 24-28 at John Gamble Stadium. The rally banquet is an opportunity for all interested persons to learn more about the event and how they and local churches can be involved. Reservations are required, and tickets are available for $7 per per- son through the crusade office at 801 W. King Street, Kings Mountain. Office hours are 10 a.m.-12 noon Monday-Friday. Sweetheart banquet at Lighthouse Church There will be a sweetheart banquet Friday, Feb. 14 from 6-8 p.m. at Lighthouse Pentecostal Holiness Church in Kings Mountain. All-you-can-eat spaghetti plates including Italian meat balls, sal- ad, bread and desert will be $6 for singles and $10 for couples. Tickets are available by calling 739-6129 or they can be purchased at the door. Child care will be provided. DR. IKE REIGHARD Lenten luncheons and services planned The annual Kings Mountain Community Lenten series will begin February 19. The theme for the 1997 series is "The Commands of Jesus." The sponsoring Kings Mountain Ministerial Association encourages ev- ery pastor and congregation, as well as the public, to participate in the series of fellowship meals and worship. Services will begin promptly at 12:05 p.m. and last 20 minutes. An offering will be received during the worship services for the Kings Mountain Crisis Ministry.
