A native of Union County, SC, he was the son of the late Walter Alexander and Lillian Bishop Palmer. He was a mem- ber of Buford Street Methodist Church, Gaffney, SC, and was a retired Dairyman, member of the American Legion in Rock Hill, SC, and a U.S. Army veter- an of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Willie Stewart Palmer; sons, Walter Briggs Palmer of Rock Hill, SC and Gene Scott Palmer of York, SC; daughters, Judy Crawford of Kings Mountain and Linda P. Patterson of Fort Mill, SC; sisters, Hazel Eggen of San Jose, CA and Frances Henderson and Sara Palmer, both of California; 12 grandchil- dren and cight great-grandchil- dren. The funeral was conducted by the Revs. Olin Byrum and Allan Sinclair at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 8, 1997 at Kings Mountain Baptist Church. He was born April 17, 1927 in Gaston County, the son of the late Ross and Barbara Martin Gregory. He was a retired spin- dle plumbing specialist, and was a member and deacon of Midview Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mildred Adams Gregory; two daughters and sons-in-law, Paul Huffman and Barbara Huffman of Cherryville and John Moss and Nancy Moss of Kings Mountain; two brothers, Floyd and Ross Gregory Jr. of {8 a “ sister, "Helen" § Gastonia; Huntsinger of Cherryville; five granddaughters, Jane Suggs of Shelby, Leslie Bunner of Cherryville, Tammy McLeymore of Bessemer City, Heather Mauney of Cherryville, and Ginger Spicer of Virginia Beach, VA; four great-grand- children, John Sims of Shelby, Tyler Suggs of Shelby, Gregory Bunner of Cherryville and ~Dallis Ashley Spicer of Virginia ~ Beach, VA. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene Gregory and Henry Gregory, and two sisters, Betty Sue Fiegro and Rebecca Johnson. The funeral was conducted by the Revs. Bob Hope of Kings Mountain and Glen Newland of Grover, and Tom Sees of Grover at 2 p.m. Saturday at Midview Baptist Church. Matheson, 62, 210 York Road, died February 8, 1997 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby. A native of Alexander County, he was the son of the late Harold Anderson and Bonnie Mae Brigman Matheson. He was a truck driver for Carolina Western for many years, was a Baptist, and a vet- cran of the Korean Conflict serving in the Air Force and the Navy. He is survived by two step- sons, Bobby Petterson of Kings Mountain and Eddie Petterson of Shelby; brothers, Marvin Matheson of Apex, Ray Matheson of Matthews, W. Bill Matheson of Spindale, and Earl Matheson of Kings Mountain; sisters, Fay Bridges of Crouse, Mary Helen Bridges of Kings Mountain, and Della Hyder of Shelby; and grandchildren, Kristy Petterson, Bobby Petterson, Eddie Petterson and Jada Smith. A memorial service will be held later. = LEONA DAMERON BESSEMER CITY - Laura Leona Dameron of Bessemer City died February 7, 1997 at Gastonr Memorial Hospital. A native of Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late Ira Craig and Lela Watts Dameron. She was retired after 41 years of service as a lab su- pervisor for Firestone Textiles. She was a lifelong active mem- ber of First Presbyterian Church where she was a Church Historian and a member of the Women of the Church. She was: also a member of the "Young at Hearts" senior citizens group at First Baptist Church, Bessemer City. Survivors include brothers and sisters-in-law, James Hill and Eloise Dameron of Fallston, Henry and Ruthie Dameron of Kings Mountain, and Harry and Mary Dameron of Gastonia; her sister, Ruth Dameron Ramsey of Chester, SC; cousins, Ira and Iris Dameron of Bessemer City; and a number of nieces and nephews. : The funeral was conducted by the Rev. Steve Hannah at 3 p.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church. Burial was in Bessemer City Memoria Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, P.O. A native of Gaston County, he was the son of the late Gaither William Ledbetter. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Janelle Smith Ledbetter. He was a supervisor for Mauney Hosiery Mills in Kings Mountain for many years and was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Shelby. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Gilreath Ledbetter of Shelby; daughter, Sandra Hoster of Kings Mountain; mother, Reba Condry Ledbetter of Kings Mountain; step-daugh- ter, Laura Greene of Shelby; step-sons, Lance and Lee Strange of Shelby; sister, Bonnie Walker of Sherrills Ford; grand- children, Chris and Sara Hoster; and step-grandchildren, Lacey Hoyle and Caleb Strange. A graveside service was con- ducted by Dr. David Lohr at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mountain Rest Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Ascension Lutheran Church, 300 N. LaFayette St., Shelby, NC 28150. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of Ruth Beaver Causby of Kings Mountain and the late Larry D. Causby. He was employed by Doug Ware Construction and was a member of New Camp Creek Baptist Church. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Jenny and Dwayne Price of Lawndale and Betty and Robbie Ryan of Gastonia; his fiancee, Angie Camp of Kings Mountain; and his fiancee's children, Chris Camp, Conley Taylor, Mandy Taylor and Marie Taylor.
