Know symptoms of possible heart attack The American Heart Association sets aside February each year as "Heart Month" in order to focus attention on the importance of preventing heart disease. Focus is also placed on educating the public on the symptoms of a heart attack, how to recognize the symp- toms, and to encourage anyone with symptoms to seek early treatment. Mary Dilling, Registered Nurse in the Intensive and Progressive Care Units of Cleveland Regional Medical Center, provided these signs and symptoms of a possible heart attack: BE Chest pain or discomfort not relieved by resting for 15 minutes. BW Chest pain or discomfort not relieved by taking pre- scribed nitroglycerine. HM Prolonged discomfort or aching, burning or tightness in your chest. HW Shortness of breath, dizzi- ness or faintness. BW Very slow, very fast, or ir- regular heart rate. HB A feeling of indigestion or heartburn not clearly related to the consumption of food. BW Sweating (hot or cold). BW Choking. HM Severe weakness. If you have any of these symptoms, get to the nearest hospital or call 911. Bluegrass convention slated in Mooresville The 57th old time Fiddlers’ and Bluegrass Convention will be held March 29 at 7 p.m. at Roland R. Morgan Auditorium in Mooresville.
