He is survived by his wife,

Mountain and Clinton
Mashburn of Charlotte; daugh-
ter, Ann Anderson of Gastonia;
sisters, Flossie Breedlove of
Brevard and Nettie Phillips of
Akron, Ohio; six grandchildren
and seven great-grandchildren.
The funcral was conducted
by the Rev. Alvin Sawyer at 2
p.m. Monday. at Harris
Memorial Chapel. Burial was in
Mountain Rest Cemetery.
Harris Funeral Home was in
charge of arrangements.

KINGS MOUNTAIN - James
Houston Mitchem, 59, 8101
Margrace Road, died February
12, 1997 at his residence.
A native of Cleveland
County, he was the son of the
late James Earl and Nena Eskew
Mitchem. He was a carpenter
and served in the United States
Army for three years and in the
United States Air Force for
three years.
He is survived by his sons,
Kenneth Mitchem, Timmy
Mitchem and Jamie Mitchem,
all of Kings Mountain; daugh-
ter, Christy Rossi of
Fayetteville, GA; sister, Minnie
Sue Hartsoe of Kings Mountain;
and five grandchildren.
A graveside service was con-
ducted by the Rev. Bob Hope at
2 p.m. Friday at Mountain Rest
Cemetery. : -

Allen Conner, 69, 703 West King
Street, died February 12, 1997 at
Carolinas Medical Center in
Charlotte.
A native of Inman, SC, she
was the daughter of the late
Odell G. Allen and the late
Bertha Allen Clary, and wife of
the late Clyde Ervin Conner.
She was also preceded in death
by a brother, Everette Fleming,
and a sister, Virginia Henson.
She was former co-owner of
C&C Scrap Metal in Kings
Mountain and was a former
employee of Seuthern Bell and
Kings Mountain Hospital
Business Office. She was a =~
member of First Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son,
Dennis Conner and wife Wanda
of Kings Mountain; daughter,
Vickie Fortune and husband
Robert of Greenville, SC; sister,
Betty A. Cash of Kings
Mountain; and grandchildren,
Gregory Conner and Shan
Conner, both of Kings
Mountain, and Kent Kuenzli
and Dennis Kuenzli, both of
Greenville, SC..
The funeral + was sconduciod
by Dr. John Sloan at 11 a.m.
Saturday at First Baptist
Church. Burial was in Mountain
Rest Cemetery.

A native of Cloudland
Mountain Hospital.
A native of Mount Holly, she
was the daughter of the late .B.
and Pearl Carpenter Covington
and widow of the late Don
Blanton. She was also preceded
in death by a brother, Boyce
Covington.
Mrs. Blanton was a school
teacher and homemaker, and a
member of First Presbyterian
Church. She was a member of
the Daughters of the American
Revolution and was a former
partner in Kings Mountain
Drug Co.
She is survived by her son,
Charles Blanton of Kings
Mountain; five grandchildren
and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was con-
ducted by Dr. Richard
Newsome at 2 p.m. Saturday at
First Presbyterian Church.
Burial was in Mountain Rest
Cemetery.

Pridmore, and wife of the late
Emmitt Henderson. In addition
to her parents and husband, she
was preceded in death by her
son, Gary Henderson. She was
a retired nurse from Kings
Mountain Hospital and was a
member of Patterson Grove
Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sons,
Danny and Larry Henderson of
Kings Mountain; daughters,
Jane Black of Boiling Springs
and Lynn Ritch of Kings
Mountain; sister, Frances
Bridges of Stanley; and three
grandchildren.
A private graveside service
was conducted by Rev. Terry
Byrd Wednesday morning at
Mountain Rest Cemetery.

She is survived by her sons,
Beuford Spicer, Lawrence Spicer
and wife Gaynell, and Claude
Spicer and wife Rose, all of
Kings Mountain; daughter, Mace
Edwards and husband Maurice
of Gastonia; son-in-law, James
Dills of Spartanburg, SC; broth-
ers, Paul Carson and Hobert
Carson, both of Kings
Mountain; nine grandsons, sev-
en great-grandchildren; and one
great-great-grandchild.
The funeral was conducted
by the Rev. Paul Rhyne at 3
p-m. Wednesday at Crowders
Mountain Baptist Church.
Burial was in Mountain Rest
Cemetery.

JOE DUNCAN
WILMINGTON - Joe Duncan
died January 31, 1997 at his
home in Wilmington from a
heart attack.
He was born January 28, 1933
in Taylorsville and was a former
resident of Cherryville and
Kings Mountain. He had lived
in Wilmington for 28 years.
He was a member of Derita
Masonic Lodge #715 in
Charlotte, a Shriner in the York
Rites, and a member of the
Sudan Temple in Wilmington.
Survivors are his wife, Anais
Greene Duncan; daughter,
Cindy D. Lea and husband
Burt; son, Scott Duncan and
wife Donna; and grandchildren,
Art and Katie Lea, all of
Wilmington. His Kings
Mountain relatives arc Christy
and Gary Cooke and Shirley
and Curtis Carroll.
A memorial service was held
at Andrews Funcral Chapel
February 3 at 11 a.m. A grave
site service was held on
Saturday, February 15.
