Tos BELMONT, NC PLE 1-800-273-3306 February 27, 1997 UNITED From 1-A Rhodes and Glenn Anderson, all former campaign chairmen, and current campaign chairman’ Vickie Hicks said it was becom- ing more difficult to obtain vol- unteers to run-the campaign. The combined board of 36 members will include four rep- resentatives from © Kings Mountain but Alexander said a 10-member advisory committee would probably be working in Kings Mountain and the leader- ship of the former Kings Mountain United Fund will also remain active in the annual fund raising campaign. Sherwood C. Southerland Jr., Chairman of the United Way for Cleveland County's Board of Directors, said he is thrilled with this collaborative effort and is looking forward to the 1997-98 campaign. "We are excited about taking this monumental step for the benefit of all residents of Kings Mountain. The leadership pre- sent in Kings Mountain will al- low us to achieve more and have greater impact in our total community." Southerland said that both Kings Mountain United Fund and Cleveland County United Way have traditionally funded many of the same local agencies with Kings Mountain funding two additional agencies within the city's boundaries: the Kings Mountain Crisis Center, former- ly the Kings Mountain Ministerial Association Helping Hand and Chaplain's Service, and the Kings Mountain Boys Club. United Way executive officer Tom Hassell said during the 1997-98 and 1998-99 allocation period the agencies will see a three percent increase. After the first three years of the associa- tion Hassell said the agency re- quests would be evaluated.
