A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late A.A. and Lonie Reid McCurry. She was preceded in death by her brother, Horace G. McCurry. She was a homemak- er and a member of Mountain View Agape Church, Kings Mountain. She is survived by her hus- band, Odell Smart of Kings Mountain; sons, Ronnie Smart and Gary Smart of Kings Mountain; daughter, Vickie Williams of Kings Mountain; brother, Dr. Garna McCurry of Asheville; sisters, Valda M. Hord of Shelby and Nadean M. Royal of Franklin; nine grand- children and 13 great-grandchil- dren. The funeral was conducted by the Revs. Harry Davis and Ray Dinkle at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Harris Memorial Chapel. Burial was in Grover Cemetery. BONNIE OWENS KINGS MOUNTAIN - Bonnie Heavner Owens, 70, 809 Ramseur Street, died March 1, 1997 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Fonzo Franklin and Minnie Mauney Heavner, and widow of the late Ray Baxter Owens. She was also preceded in death by her twin son, Vic G. Owens. She was retired from Sadie Cotton Mill, Kings Mountain, with 35 years of ser- vice. She was a member of Second Baptist Church. She is survived by her sons, Roger Owens of Goldsboro and Ricky D. Owens of Kings Mountain; daughters, Sherry Lee Sprouse of Kings Mountain and Kathy D.
