McCurry Smart, 72, 131 Kristie
Lane, .died March 2, 1997 at
Wendover, Shelby.
A native of Cleveland
County, she was the daughter
of the late A.A. and Lonie Reid
McCurry. She was preceded in
death by her brother, Horace G.
McCurry. She was a homemak-
er and a member of Mountain
View Agape Church, Kings
Mountain.
She is survived by her hus-
band, Odell Smart of Kings
Mountain; sons, Ronnie Smart
and Gary Smart of Kings
Mountain; daughter, Vickie
Williams of Kings Mountain;
brother, Dr. Garna McCurry of
Asheville; sisters, Valda M.
Hord of Shelby and Nadean M.
Royal of Franklin; nine grand-
children and 13 great-grandchil-
dren.
The funeral was conducted
by the Revs. Harry Davis and
Ray Dinkle at 3 p.m. Tuesday at
Harris Memorial Chapel. Burial
was in Grover Cemetery.

charge of arrangements.

Heavner Owens, 70, 809
Ramseur Street, died March 1,
1997 at Cleveland Regional
Medical Center in Shelby.
A native of Cleveland
County, she was the daughter
of the late Fonzo Franklin and
Minnie Mauney Heavner, and
widow of the late Ray Baxter
Owens. She was also preceded
in death by her twin son, Vic G.
Owens. She was retired from
Sadie Cotton Mill, Kings
Mountain, with 35 years of ser-
vice. She was a member of
Second Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sons,
Roger Owens of Goldsboro and
Ricky D. Owens of Kings
Mountain; daughters, Sherry
Lee Sprouse of Kings Mountain
and Kathy D. Sossamon of
Gastonia; seven grandchildren
and three great-grandchildren.
* The funeral was conducted
by the Rev. Patricia Stone at 2
p.m. Tuesday at Grace United
Methodist Church. Burial was
in Mountain Rest Cemetery.

She was the daughter of

Hollingsworth Wilson Sr. She is
also survived by her brother,
David "Christopher" Wilson Jr.
of the home; maternal grand-
parents, Richard and Frankie
Lovelace of Kings Mountain,
and Larry —and Anne
Hollingsworth of Bessemer
City; paternal great-grandmoth-
er, Pauline Hardee of Gastonia;
maternal great-grandmother,
Ann Link of Lynchburg, Va; ma-
ternal great-grandfather, Bob
Towery of Rutherfordton; and
maternal great-great-grand-
mother, Lottie Towery of
Rutherfordton. She was preced-
ed in death by her grandpar-
ents, William M. and Betty Jean
Wilson.
A graveside service was con-
ducted by the Rev. David
McMahan at 11 a.m. Tuesday at
Bessemer City Cemetery.

at his home.
A native of Gaston County,
he was the son of the late
William and Elizabeth Rabun
McPherson Sr. He was also pre-
ceded in death by his son,
William Larry McPherson;
brother, J.Q. McPherson, and
sister, Leola Bradshaw. He was
a U.S. Navy veteran of World
War II, member of East Baptist
Church, and manager of
Whitten Supply Company for
more than 48 years.
He is survived by his wife,
Helen Leonard McPherson; son,
Randy Lee McPherson of Kings
Mountain; brother, William
McPherson Jr. of Gastonia;

late Lawrence A. Froneberger.
She was retired from Firestone
Mill and attended Cherryville
Church of God.
She is survived by her sons,
Bobby and Billy Froneberger of
Kings Mountain and George
Froneberger of De Leon, TX;
daughter, Louise Baliles of
Kings Mountain; brothers,
Herman Fredell of Kings
Mountain and Roy Fredell of
Lincolnton; sisters, Betty
Patterson and Mary Stewart of
Kings Mountain; nine grand-
children and 10 great-grandchil-
dren. She was preceded in
death by two grandchildren.
The funeral was conducted
by the Rev. Todd Phillips at 11
a.m. Monday at Greene Funeral
Service Southside Chapel.
Burial was in Bethany ARP
Church Cemetery.

at Kings Mountain Hospital.
A native of Pascagoula, Miss.,
she was the daughter of the late
Clarence Dwight Davison, wife
of the late Merle Murdoch, and
‘twin sister of the late Lester
Davison. She was a homemaker
and a member of Long Creek
Presbyterian Church in
Bessemer City where she was a
member of the choir.

Donald Murdoch of New Bern,
Danny Murdoch of Gastonia,
and Doug Murdoch of Shelby;
daughter, Diana Murdoch
Williams of W. Monroe, LA;
mother, Ellen L. Davison of
Brewerton, NY; brothers and

conducted by the Rev. Lynn
Michie at 2 p.m. Thursday,
March 6 at Long Creek

There is no entry fee. Prizes
