A native of Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late James A. and Lola Smith Parrish. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benny Owensby. She was a homemak- er and a member of Second Baptist Church. She is survived by her sons, Vernon Owensby of Kings Mountain : and . Rev. Jack Gassaway of Asheville; sister, Lola Mae McGill or Orlando, FL; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted by the Revs. Dan W. He was a veteran. of the U.S. Army with service during World War II. He participated in the Normandy Invasion and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was a member of Mt. Paran Baptist’ Church where he ;served as a Deacon, was a " member of Buffalo Lodge No. 202, a Past Commander of VFW Post 4941, was a member of. the Disabled Americans: Veterans Post 54, and: was a Shriner.
