Charles Gilbert Walker, 58, 117
Wells Street, died May 23, 1997
at Cleveland Regional Medical
Center in Shelby.
A native of Cherokee County,
NC, he was the son of the late
John and Florence Floyd
Walker. He was employed by
Owensby Construction Co. of
Gastonia and was a member of
Missionary Baptist Church,
Murphy.
He is survived by his wife,
Evelynn Truett Walker of Kings
Mountain; sons, Robert Walker,
Shane Walker and John Walker
of Kings Mountain; daughters,
Theresa Ramsey, Connie
Johnson and Pam Roseberry of
Kings Mountain, Patricia
Hooper of Dallas and Crystal
Byers of Grover; brothers,
Ralph Walker of Hayesville, Joe
Walker and Johnny Stevenson
of Murphy and-Boebby Doggit of
Tampa, Florida; sisters, Dora
Belcher of Hayesville and Carol
Beard, Linda Stevenson and
Emily Jackson of Murphy; and
nine grandchildren.
A graveside service was con-
ducted by the Rev. Dale Randle
at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Mountain
Rest Cemetery.
Harris Funeral Home was in
charge of arrangements.
EDDLEMAN BUMGARDNER
YORK, SC - Eddleman Henry
Bumgardner died Saturday,
May 24, 1997 at White Oak
Manor in York.
He was the son of the late
Minnie and George
Bumgardner and husband of
the late Mary Steele
Bumgardner. He was employed
by Threads Inc. for 42 years as a
dye house worker, and was a
member of Pine Grove Baptist
Church, Lake Wylie.
He is- survived by three
daughters and sons-in-laws,
Ann and Bob Parker of Clover,
Carolyn and Junior Holt of
Gastonia and Mary Joyce and
Larry Pace of Harrisburg; two
sons and daughters-in-law,
Charles and Nean Bumgardner
of Clover and Kenneth and
Barbara Bumgardner of Kings
Mountain; sister, Juanita Steele
of York; 20 grandchildren, 27
great-grandchildren, one great-
great-grandchild and a number
of nieces and nephews.
The funeral was conducted
by the Revs. A.A. Bailey, Dick
Whitener and Mark Collins at
. 11 a.m. Tuesday at Carother's
Colonial Chapel, Gastonia.
Burial was in Westview
Gardens, Bessemer City.

1997 at Vencore Hospital in
Greensboro, NC.
A native of Cleveland
County, she was the daughter
of the late Jessie James and
Viola Bolin Mullinax, and was
the widow of the late Josepeth
Frank Lovelace. She was a
homemaker and a member of
Bethany Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sons,
Steve Lovelace of Charlotte,
Kenneth Lovelace
Blacksburg, SC, Lemuel
Lovelace of Clover, SC, and .
Larry Lovelace of Grover.
The funeral was conducted
by the Rev. Joe Heffner at 3 p.m.
Monday, May 26 at Harris

Mountain. Burial was in Grover
Cemetery.

GROVER - Inez Bennett Ellis,
91, 418 Cleveland Avenue, died
Wednesday, May 21, 1997 at the
Rockville Nursing Center,
Rockville, MD.
A native of CLeveland
County, she was the daughter
of the late Joseph Wilson and
Regina Lynch Bennett, and was
the widow of the late John
Broadus Ellis and the late
Russell Black. She was a home-
maker and a member of First
Baptist Church, Grover.
She is survived by her daugh-
ter, Mary Ellis Honigsburg of
Rockville, MD; and two grand-
children.
The funeral was conducted
by the Rev. Paul Sorrells at 11
a.m. Monday at First Baptist
Church. Burial was in Sunset
Cemetery, Shelby.

the charity of the donor's

A native of Cherokee County,

Nathan A. and Mary Benton
Hudson, and widow of the late
Georgia Ellen Maner Hudson.
He was a member of Bethany
Baptist Church, a veteran of the
U.S. Army with service in
World War II, and a retired em-
ployee of Minette Mills.
He is survived by his wife,
Betty Weayer Ingle Hudson of
Grover; sons, William T.
~Hudson of Grover and Stephen
Ingle of Greenville, SC; daugh-
ters, Lucille Camp, Brenda
Hudson, and Debbie Welsh, all
of Grover, and Helen Kirk of
Jacksonville, FL.; sister, Martha

dren, 15 great-grandchildren,
and one great-great-grandson.

Huffstetler, 82, of Greenville,
VA died Sunday, May 25, 1997
in the August Medical Center,
Fishersville, VA.
A native of Kings Mountain,
she was the daughter of the late
Forest and Aquillia Huffstetler.
She had retired from Western
State Hospital as an aide and
she was a member of the Buena
Vista Seventh-Day Adventist
Church.
She is survived by her hus-
band, William E. Henson; her
children and their spouses,
William J. and Nancy Henson of
~ Cheyenne, WO; Mitchell F. and
Sue Henson of Glendale, CA;
Luke C. and Linda Henson of
Greenville, VA; Evelyn Jean and
Robert Torres of Chesapeake,
VA; stepchildren, Newt E.

grandchildren and six great-
grandchildren; two brothers,
Leonard Huffstetler and Andy

was in Rockbridge Memorial

Gastonia, will be guest speaker.

Cee Jays Garden Center and Landscapes has recently opened on 304 East Kings Street. Owner and
operator Cliff Laurich, seated on the porch of the business, looks forward to helping area yard en-
thusiasts with their everyday questions and coricerns about gardening and landscaping.
A complete gardening center
has come to Kings Mountain
with plans for expansion.
Cee Jay's Garden Center and
Landscapes is owned and oper-
ated by Cliff Laurich. The new
center is located at the previous
site of The Secret Garden, 304
East King Street.
Laurich, a native of Chile, and
who has lived in the Kings
Mountain area for 10 years now,
has very big plans for this hob-
by turn profession.
In 1991, Laurich graduated
from UNC Charlotte with a de-
gree in Accounting, and a job
with the IRS, but found that he
did not care for the desk job,
and decided to take on another.
His experience comes through
gardening courses at Gaston
College, and consultations with
friends who were in the line of
work, Before coming to Kings
Mountain, Laurich worked with
the groundskeeper at Gaston,
and later John Grant (who will
assist Laurich in Cee Jay's
Landscapes).
Now that he is in business on
his own, Laurich has many
plans and designs for what he

The year round center will of-
fer a full line of plant and gar-
den items, with over 200 types
of outdoor annuals, perennials,
herbs, shrubs and trees - many
of which are hard to find in this
area.
Laurich hopes to expand the
business by offering other items
such as a wide selection of gar-
dening and plant books, tools,
and maybe a reading area, were
hobbyists may come to explore
plant life through books. He al-
so plans to offer a nice selection
of pottery, vases, and window
decor.
Cee Jay's Garden Shop opens
The Landscaping portion of
the business should keep
Laurich and his crew busy dur-
ing the year with maintenance
tasks such as trimming, mow-
ing, fertilizing, and pest control,
as well as consultation and yard
design.
Laurich is a Certified Plant
Professional, who has a broad
knowledge of plants which
grow in this area, as well as
their habitats and the pests that
may pose threats to them. He
has provided garden and land-
scape service throughout
Crouse, Shelby, Mount Holly,
Lincolnton and Lake Wylie.
