Robert William Eng III of Kings Mountain received his Doctorate of Theology May 25 from Jacksonville Theological Seminary, and was ordained at a special ceremony that evening. Eng is a 1974 graduate of Kings Mountain High School. He entered the U.S. Army where he was an Airborne Ranger with 20 military schools upon leaving the military in 1980. He received an Associate Degree in Industrial Management from Cleveland Community College along with an Associate Degree in Industrial Safety and Health in 1983. He received his Bachelors Degree of Religious Arts in Biblical Studies in 1995 from jacksonville Theological Seminary. Eng is currently working on his Ph.D. in Christian Counseling. Eng has been self-employed. in Kings Mountain for 20 years as owner of the Eng School of Self Defense. He has also ben an Associate Pastor for five years. Eng said he plans to open a Family Counseling Center in the future. Dr. Eng and his wife, Susan, and daughter, Heather, reside in North Woodbridge at Moss Lake. Singing set Sunday at Cherokee Baptist Cherokee Street Baptist Church will have a gospel singing Sunday, June 8 at 6 p.m. Featured singers will be Hiawatha Edwards and his gospel singing group. The public is invited. Cloggers to benefit from yard sale A benefit yard sale Saturday morning will help pay expenses of local clogging students to a big competition in Pigeon Forge, TN. Mrs. Eva Moss will host the yard sale beginning at 6 a.m. at her home on Grover Road. Sausage biscuits will also be available for the early morning event. Trained professionals will check child care seats to be sure they are installed correctly. 9th District Democrat Women to meet June 7 The Democratic Women of North Carolina, Ninth District, including Mecklenburg, Gaston, Lincoln and Cleveland counties, will hold its annual luncheon and workshop Saturday, June 7 from 10 a.m-1:30 p.m. at Boger City United Methodist Church, 2320 E. Main St.. Lincolnton. The agenda features Nancy Rorie, President of N.C. Democratic Women, appear- ances by General Assembly members, a business session and workshops.
