Brubaker, Speaker for the North Carolina House of Representatives, has announced the appointment of Christina Marie Bolin as a House Page for Representative Weatherly for the week of July 14. The purpose of the North Carolina House of Representatives Page program is to afford youth between the ages of 15-18 the opportunity to see first-hand how laws are made by participating in the legislative process. House pages must be in good academic standing at their schools. Christina is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Danny Bolin of Kings Mountain. She is a rising junior at Crest High School where she is a member of the Latin Club, Beta Club, Scholar Athlete, tutor and served as class representative, and was a member of the softball and vol- leyball teams. She also was a volunteer at the Special Olympics. > Hedrick to install new ALA officers Mrs. Jerry Hedrick of Lexington, state president of the American Legion Auxiliary, will ‘install new officers of Unit 155 of Kings Mountain Thursday night at 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church . The meeting has been moved from the American Legion building due a senior citizen dance that is set from 7-10 p.m. at the American Legion build- ing. Mrs. Hilda Goforth will be in- stalled as the new president succeeding Myrtle Christenson. Arlene Barrett will lead a memorial service honoring for- mer members Virginia Sabetti and Abby Jane Harris. Members of the Sabetti and Harris families are invited to at- tend. Mrs. Barrett and Lib Stewart will be co-hostesses for refresh- ments after the meeting. Special program set at KM llitary Park The 18th Century Guild of North Carolina will present a variety of portrayals of 18th century artisans and farmers of the Carolina's Piedmont Saturday and Sunday near the National Military Park visitor center. The Battle of Kings Mountain is known for its pivotal role in the Southern Campaign of the American Revolution. The men who fought at Kings Mountain were not only skilled in the use of the rifle, but many were also skilled craftsmen who had carved a lifestyle in the frontier settlements and towns. Other civilians during the 1700s often supported the military with their goods and services. The guild members will discuss the lifestyles of the Revolutionary War period and how the crafts- men contributed to the Revolutionary War effort. Individual members of the guild have participated in inter- pretive events at such locations at Yorktown, Ninety Six National Historic Site, Guilford Courthouse and numerous local and state historic sites. The park is extremely excited to be able to bring another perspective to the forefront of the interpretive program at Kings Mountain. Saturday's events will begin at 10 a.m. and last until 5 p.m. Sunday's events will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 3 p.m. The public Admission is free.
