with e-mail addresses.
The World Wide Web is truly
a collection of documents and
information resources from all
over the world. You can travel
from Germany to Japan at the
click of a. button. There are
medical resources for people
seeking information about a
particular problem. You can go
back in time to the Civil War,
World War I and II, and view
the actual battle maps, see what
the men thought and felt during
port to determine the feasibility of expanding the library building to add a new children's wing. The
report is expected to be completed by September.
Mauney Library offers Web TV
that period of their lives, and

dance of educational sites for
children of all ages as well as
adults. These sites cover the sci-
ences, social studies, math, liter-
~ ature, etc.

Mathews enlists in U.S. Air Force
Paula M. Mathews of Kings
Mountain recently enlisted into
.the United States Air Force's
‘Delayed Enlistment Program,
‘according to SSGT Kenneth R.
: Laney, local Air Force Recruiter.
. Mathews, a 1992 graduate of

All the attendants wore gowns of pewter matte
crepe designed along empire lines with deep
rounded necklines. The short sleeves, neckline
and ‘waistline were piped in pewter silk crepe.
Long flowing sashes of satin crepe extended
‘down the back of the gowns from satin rosettes at
ithe waistline. Each attendant carried a hand-tied
‘bouquet of roses, bouvardia, limonium and stat-
iice in mixed shades of lavender and purple.

mony at a reception at North Lake Country Club
in Shelby. Mr.and Mrs. Harold J. Lail and Mr. and

tion from the Air Force's six-
week basic training course at
Lackland Air Force Base near
San Antonio, Texas, she will re-
ceive technical training in her
designated career area.
Mathews will earn credits to-
ward an Associate Degree in

Community College of the Air
Force while attending basic and
technical training schools.

The bridegroom's parents hosted the rehearsal
dinner Friday evening in the fellowship hall of
Bethel Baptist Church.
After a wedding trip to Cancun, Mexico, the
newlyweds will reside in Gastonia.
Paul Rubin and Glenda Stalvey Crotts of
Shelby are parents of the bride. A 1989 graduate
of Shelby High School, she earned her B. S. de-
gree in Textile Marketing and Management with
a minor in Economics from the University of
North Carolina at Greensboro. She is employed as
an Area Sales Manager with Matthews-Belk at
Eastridge Mall in Gastonia.
The bridegroom is the son of Melvin Charles
and Janice Lee Kale of Shelby. A 1989 graduate of
Shelby High School, he earned a B. S. degree in
Industrial Distribution from Western Carolina
University. He is employed as a N.C. area repre-
sentative for Applied Fluid Power of Richmond,

Navy Ensign Keller
receives commission
Navy Ensign Darrell L.
Keller, ‘son of Pamela D. and
Darrell L. Keller Sr. of Country
Club Road, Kings Mountain, re-
cently received his commission
as a naval officer after complet-
. ing Officer Candidate School in
Pensacola, FL.
During the 13-week training
program, Keller received exten-
sive instruction on a variety of
specialized subjects including
navigation, ship handling, engi-
neering, naval warfare and
management. Keller also com-
pleted a demanding daily phys-
ical fitness program that in-
volved running, swimming and
calisthenics.
In addition, Keller and fellow
OCS graduates received leader-
ship training and instruction on
the importance of the Navy's
core values - honor, courage
and commitment - and how
~ their meaning impacts the per-
sonal and professional conduct
of more than 400,000 men and
women serving in the Navy
around the world.
The ' 1992 - graduate of
Bessemer City High School
-joined the Navy in May 1993.
He is a 1996 graduate of the
University of North Carolina at
Asheville, with a BA degree.

‘Smoke on Mountain’
Cleveland Community
College will host the Greater
Shelby Community Theatre
production of "Smoke on the
Mountain," July 18, 19 and 20 at
8 pm. and on July 19 at 2 p.m.
in the CCC Auditorium.
Admission is $8 for general ad-
mission and $6 for students and
senior citizens.Children under
the age of five will be admitted
free.
