Obituaries GRADY FOSTER BELMONT - C. Grady Foster, 48, 111 Lakeview Drive, died July © 27,..-1997 at. :sGaston Memorial Hospital, Gastonia. A native of Kings Mountain, he was the son of the late Betty Foster Dellinger and grandson of the late Howard and Ora D. Foster. He was also preceded in death by his son, Carl Grady Foster. He was a truck driver and owner and operator of Voyager Transportation in Concord.- He is survived by his wife, Barbara Roberts Foster of Belmont; daughters, Tracy Foster of Belmont and Carrie Ann Smith of Belmont; brother, Dwight Foster of Kings Mountain; sister, Trina Whitaker of Kings Mountain; and two grandchildren, Kyle Smith and Ryan Foster. The funeral was conducted by the Rev. David Blanton at 4 p-m. Wednesday at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Kings Mountain. Burial was in the church cemetery. A native of" Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Ollie Smith Short and wife of the late Robert Lee Walker. She was a homemaker and a member of Second Baptist Church... A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Clyde and Vertie Davis Short. He was also preceded in death by his son, Ronnie Short, and his brother, J.D. Short. He . was a retired textile employee and a member of Patterson Grove Baptist Church. She was retired as a winder with Ester Mill and was a member of Landmark Baptist Church. She is survived by her son, James Robert Curry of Kings Mountain; daughters, Frances Morgan of Shelby and Martha Thrift and husband J.T. of Kings Mountain; sister, Ida Mae Allen of Shelby; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late James W. and Lillie L. Irvin and wife of the late E.A. McCarter. She was educated at Piedmont High School in Lawndale, Meredith College, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She taught in the public school sys- tems in Gastonia, . Kings Mountain and Cramerton. She was a member of First Baptist Church for more than 70 years and served as a Sunday School teacher for over 40 years. She was also an office in the WMU. She was also active in civic affairs, serving as presi- dent of the Gastonia Woman's Club, Gastonia Music Club, and American Legion Auxiliary, and she was a longtime member of. the Ex Libris Book Club. She al- so served as Gastonia's first City Hostess for several years following World War II. ; ‘She is survived by her daugh- ter and son-in-law, Dolores M. and Phillip A. Cain; her grand- son and his wife, Andrew and Angela Cain of Columbia, SC; and two granddaughters, Robin - L. Cain of Gastonia and Allison Cain of Durham.
