Resurrection receives funds from Brotherhood Resurrection : Lutheran Church of Kings Mountain re- cently received $450 from Lutheran Brotherhood, a frater- nal benefit society, through the Society's Congregational Matching Funds program. Lutheran Brotherhood matched the amount that the congregation raised through a capital fund raising drive, which took place on 12 weeks last September, October and November. Resurrection will use the funds it raised and the match- ing funds from Lutheran Brotherhood for replacing a heating and cooling unit in the fellowship hall. Lutheran Brotherhood offers a broad range of high quality fi- nancial products and services to Lutherans nationwide. Through its fraternal programs, Lutheran Brotherhood aids its members, their communities, and Lutheranism. Over the last 10 years, Lutheran Brotherhood has allocated more than $440 million to fraternal programs. Cancer walk at Gaston Memorial The Comprehensive Cancer Center of Gaston Memorial Hospiial will host its fourth an- nual "Footsteps for Tomorrow," a one-mile walk to remember and honor those lives touched by breast cancer and to educate women of all ages on the im- portance of good breast habits, Saturday, Oct. 4 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Participants will receive a balloon denoting their reason for walking. An award will be given to the largest team. A short program is planned in- cluding an "In Memory" candle- lighting, a bush planting, spe- cial recognition for breast cancer survivors, and brunch on the lawn. Breast cancer survivors will lead the one-mile walk which starts at GAston memorial Hospital and ends at The Diagnostic Centre, 655 Cox Road, Gastonia.
