ChristmasMarketplace benefits area missions Christmas is sew soon, ac- cording to women of Central United Methodist Church, who are sewing, baking and hand- crafting items for a Christmas Marketplace for Missions November 1. Donna Canova, who is head- ing up the event, said shoppers from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. can find suitable Christmas gifts for the whole family and also be as- sured their money will help the less fortunate. "Shop with a heart" is the theme of the event which offers a silent auction, a handcrafted cedar chest, bikes, Shirley Brutko KM numbered prints, garden shop seeds, bird houses and feeders, plants, a bake shop, jewelry, Christmas deco- rations from angels to advent calendars, fine needlework, Christmas aprons and much more. Admission is 50 cents per family or used eye glasses or food for the Crisis Ministry. The Battered Women's Shelter, Methodist Children's Ministry [for the Needy, Christmas for the needy, disaster relief, Habitat for Humanity, Hospice and wParaguay Medical Mission will ~dlso benefit from the day at the ‘marketplace. Concert October 19 at Patterson Grove A "Concert for the Family" featuring Teresa Moshell of Franklin, Tn. will be held Sunday, Oct. 19, at 6 p.m. at Patterson Grove Baptist Church, 301 Oak Grove Road. Moshel], a Kingstree, S. C. na- tive, is a charted songwriter with Centergy Music Group of Nashville and has five record- ings, the latest one "Thi$ is My Life." She has been a featured artist with the Gaither Vocal Band, Larnelle Harris, Ray Boltz and Phil Keaggy. She appears in Kings Mountain courtesy of His Song Ministries of Franklin, Tn. A vocal performance major at Erskine College and a former Columbia, SC resident, she is a staff writer for Centergy Music. Her husband, Dan, is pastor of Gateway Baptist Church in Irma, SC and they have two children. His Song Ministries Inc. is a non-profit corporation begun by the Moshells in 1986 to pro- mote Mrs. Moshell's concerts. Dr. Gantt to lead Zoar Baptist reunion Zoar Baptist Church of Shelby will welcome back Cleveland County native Dr. Bobby Gantt for Zoar's fall re- vival services October 19-22. Dr. Gantt is pastor of Florence Baptist Church in Forest City, where he has served since 1985. He is a graduate of Gardner- Webb University and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. According to Dr. Marvin Gobble, pastor of Zoar, revival will begin with the morning service October 19 at 11 a.m. Services will then be held at 7 p-m. nightly. Also included will be special music featuring Heaven's Gold, a ladies ensem- ble from Zoar, the Zoar adult choir and an ensemble from Florence Baptist Church led by Rhonda Gantt. A nursery will be provided. Zoar Baptist is located at 1740 South Lafayette Street, Shelby, near the stop light at the inter- section of South Lafayette and Highway 150 South. Choir director to be installed Elisha Mitschke-Lammana, new choir director of Saint Matthew's Lutheran Church, 201 North Piedmont Avenue, Kings Mountain, will be in- stalled during the 11 a.m. wor- ship service on Sunday, Oct. 16. Mrs. Mitschke-Lammana is a graduate of Ap ppalachian State University® in% 1997, witha Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education and Piano Performance, and a minor en- dorsement in Instrumental Performance with a speciality in the Euphonium. She was on the Chancellor's and Dean's lists. She did her student teaching at Ashbrook High School in Gastonia. She also served as or- ganist and assistant choirmaster at Boone Advent Christian Church. During the summer of 1995, she served as a day camp coun- selor for the Gaston Central YMCA. From 1991-93 she served as organist and choir di- rector of Grace Lutheran Church, Bessemer City, where her father is pastor. Mrs. Mitschke-Lammana is a member of the Music Educators National Conference and two music sororities, Pi Kappa Lambda and Sigma Alpha Iota, and was a North Carolina: Teaching Fellows. A reception honoring Mrs. Mitschke-Lammana will follow the service.
