Christmas bazaar at David Baptist Nov. 8 David Baptist Churchwomen readying for a big November 8 craft and bake sale said it was a different world for grandmoth- ers bringing up their children and taking care of their house- holds. Besides the housework and taking care of family responsi- bilities, they were an extra farm hand when necessary in order to get the crops in on time. Families were close, several generations often living in the same household. "We thought about all these things as we worked each Tuesday. night on, grafts for our * craft and bake sale," said Susan Lovelace, who has been leading a group of local members in planning the fundraiser to up- grade and kitchen and fellow- ship hall. Planning to offer more than a bazaar, the church group began sharing patterns and ideas and learned new crafts while shar- ing memories and fellowship. The result of their Tuesday night meetings will be seen by the public on Saturday, Nov. 8, in the fellowship hall of the church across from Bethware School just off the Highway 74 Bypass. Ham biscuits, coffee, muffins, doughnuts and coffee will be available beginning at 8 a.m. and the craft tables will in- clude Christmas placemats, napkins, pillows, stockings, cross stitch pillows, angel pil- lows, wooden reindeers, baby bibs, Amish dolls, canvas door hangers, baskets, potpourri lamps, mother's bags, orna- ments, wreaths, baby blankets, painted t-shirts and sweatshirts, appliqued t-shirts and sweat- shirts, frames, candy canes, string angels, tooth fairy pil- lows, wooden angels, air fresh- ener dolls, Raggedy Ann blankets and pillows, book cov- ers, book markers, Christmas lamps, light blue Santas, framed cross stitch and holiday wreaths. At 11 a.m. a hot dog plate at $2.50 will be available. Takeout orders are also available. Fall festival set at Westover Baptist There will be a fall festival October 31 at 7 p.m. at Westover Baptist Church fel- lowship hall, 108 Westover * Road, Kings Mountain. Those attending are urged to dress as their favorite Bible character. There will be games, prizes and hot dogs. Gospel singing set at Westover Baptist There will be a gospel singing Saturday, November 1 at 7 p.m. at Westover Baptist Church, 108 Westover Church Drive, Kings Mountain. Featured group will be The Brashers of Birmingham, Alabama. Rev. Larry Haskin, pastor, in- vites the public. _ profits go to missiap Marketplace opens at church Saturday Central United Methodist Church's Marketplace for Missions Saturday will feature gifts for all ages of the family all under one roof and for benefit of the needy. Women of the church have been busy for weeks putting the finishing touches on handcraft- ed items, baked and canned goods, and treasures, old and new, which should delight the shopper who wants to do Christmas shopping early. Admission is 50 cents for a family or eyeglasses or food for the local Crisis Ministry. All the Battered Women'$i8k bike for an Indian pastor, Methodist Children's Ministry for the needy, Christmas for the needy, disaster relief, habitat for humanity, Hospice, Paraguay Medical Missions and the Kings Mountain Crisis Ministry. "Shop with a heart" is the theme of the day's event which begins with shopping from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. with pizza for lunch and followed with a pig pickin and entertainment from 4-6:30 p.m. One of the big items going up for bids is a handcrafted cedar chest crafted by Melvin Wright and donated by his wife, Willie Wright. There will be bikes, Brutko numbered prints, gar- den shop seeds, bird houses and feeders, plants, a bake shop, a children's shop for kids to shop for parents, jewelry, beautiful stones, Christmas dec- orations from angels to aprons. tree skirts and advent calen- dars, fine needlework, favorite team gifts, Godly gifts for spe- cial people, and mission gift certificates. Some of the sale items are al- ready on display at the church during office hours. Craft, hot dog sale at Pathway Baptist There will be a craft and hot dog sale from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. November 1 at Pathway Baptist Church, Parkdale Circle, Kings Mountain. Yard sale items will also be sold. Hallelujah celebration at Faith Baptist Church There will be a hallelujah cel- ebration Friday, october 31 from 6-9 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church, 1009 Linwood Road, Kings Mountain. There will be treats, games and food. A hallelujah costume contest will be held. Activities will be in the adult fellowship room. Bob Propst to sing at Foursquare Gospel Bob Propst of Gastonia, known in this area as Santa Claus, will be in concert November 2 during the 11 a.m. worship service at Foursquare Gospel Mountain. Propst heads his own evange- listic ministries and is affiliated with the Church of God.
