Schedule for community
Lenten services, luncheons
The Kings Mountain Ministerial Association is sponsoring its an-
nual Lenten worship and luncheons each Wednesday. Services begin
promptly at 12:05 p.m. and last approximately 20 minutes.
The theme will be "See What Love," and each week worshippers
will focus on a key passage from each of the five chapters of 1st
John.
An offering will be received door the Kings Mountain Crisis
Ministry.
Soup and sandwich meals will be served by the host churches. A
$3 per person donation is requested to help defray the cost of meal
preparation.
All area churches and the working public are encouraged to at-
tend the services. The working public will be invited to receive their
meals ahead of everyone else. Nurseries will not be provided.
March 11 - Boyce Memorial ARP Church. Speaker, Rev. Harold
Bumby, East Gold Wesleyan Church. Text: I John 2:1-6 - "we have an
Advocate..."
March 18 - First Presbyterian Church. Speaker, Rev. Clinton
Feemster, Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Text: I John 3:13-18 - "We know
love by this...He laid down His life for us."
March 25 - East Gold Wesleyan Church. Speaker, Rev. Michael
Murray, Grace Methodist Church. Text: I John 4:7-16 - "not that we
loved God but that He loved us."
April 1 - Kings Mountain Baptist Church. Speaker, Rev. David
Philbeck, Macedonia Baptist. Church. Text: I John 5:3-5, 12-13 - "this
is the victory...this is the testimony."
Special services
HM People's Baptist Church will have a fellowship service, "The
, New Ship Sailing," starting March 5. Speaker will be Rev. Woodard.
The March 12 speaker will be Sis Joecilyn Alexander. The March 19
speaker will be Rev. Harold Bumby. The March 26 speaker will be
Rev. Wright.
M Vince Tharpe of Art Alive Ministries will be at Chestnut Ridge
Baptist Church Saturday, March 28 at 6 p.m. The public is invited.

Fund raisers
HM Shiloh Presbyterian Church, 307 Cleveland Avenue, Grover, will
have a ‘spaghetti dinner Sunday, March 15 at 5 p.m. An "Oldie-wed
Game" will follow. There is no charge for the dinner but donations
will be accepted to support the senior high mission trip to Mexico.
Sunday School is each Sunday at 9:45 a.m. and worship is at 11. For

MW There will be a barbecue supper March 14 from 4:30-8 p.m. at
Bethel Baptist Church fellowship hall, 606 South DeKalb Street
Shelby to raise funds for Daniel and Matthew Roberts to to on the
Belgium International Cup Trip and for the Bethel Baptist Youth
Mission '98. Tickets are $7 for adults and $6 for children ages 5-11.
Children under 4 will be admitted free.
BW There will be a barbecue supper (eat-in or take out) March 14
from 4-7 p.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church fellowship hall, Kings
Mountain. Plates, including barbecue, roll, slaw, chips and baked
beans, will be $5.50.
Gospel singings
BM The Whisnants of Morganton will be in concert Sunday, March
8 at 7 p.m. at Oak View Baptist Church, Highway 161 South, Kings
Mountain. Admission is free but a love offering will be received.
BM There will be a gospel singing Saturday, march 7 at 7 p.m. at
Harvest Time Assembly, 904 Second Street, Kings Mountain, featur-
ing The Lighthouse Praise Team and The Singing Heirs. Rev. Gene
Grigg, pastor, invites the public.
BM There will be a gospel singing March 14 at 7 p.m. at The Free
Spirit Gospel Tabernacle, 315 Edel Street, Kings Mountain, featuring

BM The Songsters Quartet, The Chapel Grove Quartet, and The
Pine Ridge Boys will be in concert Saturday, March 7 at 7 p.m. at

BM Michael Combs will be in concert Saturday, March 7 at 7 p.m. at
First Wesleyan Church, Bessemer City. The church is located 1 1/2
miles from I-85 on Exit 13/Edgewood Road. There is no charge but

HB Bob Propst, The Singing Santa, will be in concert March 8 at 6
