June 18, 1998 Obituaries The Kings Mountain Herald DAVE COBB BLACKSBURG, SC - Dave Cobb, 83, 103 Chris Drive, died Saturday at his residence. A native of Cherokee County, he was the son of the late Seymore and Lindie Moss Cobb, and husband of the late Estelle Lanier Pennington Cobb. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U..S. Army, and was a member of the Christian Fellowship Church. He is survived by his step- sons, J.R. Pennington, Jerry Wayne Pennington and Lewis Dean Pennington, all of Blacksburg; stepdaughters, Annie Louise Vaughn of Ellenboro, and Brenda Fay Stroupe, Lois Jean Hall and Charlotte Maxine Parker, all of Gaffney, SC; brother, Setoy Cobb of Blacksburg; sister, Lillie Cobb Lanier of Blacksburg; 22 grandchildren and 19 great- grandchildren. The funeral was conducted by the Rev. Willie Lanier at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Christian Fellowship Church. Burial was -in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Sidney Cobb, Billy Cobb, Bobby Cobb, J.T. ARTHUR BOLTON BESSEMER CITY - Arthur Lee Bolton Sr., 85, 307 South 12th Street, died June 11, 1998 at his home. A pative of Cherokee County, SC, he was the son of the late James Burton and Anna Horne Bolton, and husband of the late Macie Rebecca Black Bolton. He was also preceded in death by his son, Alvin Lee Bolton. He was retired from Stowe Mills of Belmont and was a member of King James Baptist Church of Bessemer City, where he was a former Deacon and Deacon Chairman Emeritus. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He is survived by his sons, Arthur Lee "Butch" Bolton Jr. of Gastonia and Stephen James "Jimmy" Bolton of Kings Mountain; daughters, Thelma Louise McDaniel of Shelby, Anna Ruth Teague of Gastonia, Barbara Grace. Keough of Bessemer City and Susan Louise Honolulu)’ ‘Hawaii; brother Edward Bolton of Gaffney, SC; 24 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. The funeral was conduéted by Drs. H. DIXIE VILLAGE «Hilderbrand of RUSSELL E. SMITH KINGS MOUNTAIN - Russell E. Smith, 82, 826 North Piedmont Avenue, died Thursday, June 11, 1998 at Lincoln Regional Medical Center., Lincolnton. A native of Gaston County, he was the son of the late Marion and Viola Neal Smith. He was a retired carpenter and cabinet maker and was a mem- ber of Central United Methodist Church. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He is survived by his wife, Nell Mauney Smith; daughter, Alice Faye Bennett of Kings Mountain; and grandchildren, Russell Bennett and John Bennett. The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Endowment Fund for the Bill Russell Christmas Project of Central United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 37, Kings Mountain, NC 28086. KIN FLOYD COBB KINGS MOUNTAIN - Floyd Daniel Cobb, 64, 1321 South Battleground Avenue, died June 10, 1998 at his home. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late James and Bessie Cobb. He was a retired textile worker and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Fannie Cobb; sons, Coleman Anderson and Ronald Anderson, both of King Mountain; brothers, Dewey Cobb and Herman Cobb, both of Kings Mountain, and Jack Cobb; sisters, Eula Mae Cobb of Hayesville and Viola Stroup of Kings Mountain; and grandchil- dren, Kelly Ferguson of York, SC and Sherry Anderson of Kings Mountain. The funeral was conducted by the Rev. David Blanton at 4 p.m. Friday at Bethlehem Baptist Church. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. Harris Funeral Home was: in charge of arrangements. Planning Director Steve Killian is advertising for the po- sition being vacated by Roberts who was a former human re- sources official for 13 years with KMG Minerals and has been with the city for over a year.
