A native of Cleveland
County, she was the daughter
of the late Lee and Sally
Ledford Bell. She was a home-

She is survived by her hus-
band, William Hunter Ware of
Kings Mountain; sons, Curtis

Ware, Hunter Houston Ware,

Mountain; brother, Ralph Bell of

He was a native of Cherokee
County, SC, and the son of the
late Charlie and Rose Daniel
Batchler. He was also preceded
in death by his first wife, Leona
Pritchard Batchler; and his son,
Eugene Batchler. He was a
Baptist.

RAY JIMISON
GASTONIA - Ray Glenn
Jimison, 67, 831 McCall Court,
died June 15, 1998 at Duke
University Medical Center.
He was a native of Gaston
County, son of the late James
Edgar Jimison and Blanche
Kirby Jimison Nance. He was
preceded in death by a sister,
Margaret Place, and a brother,
: Chalmas Jimison.
He was a lifelong member of
East Baptist Church, where he
was an ordained deacon and
past Sunday School teacher of
Senior Adults for more than 30
year. He graduated from
Gastonia High School in 1950
and attended Belmont Abbey
and Gardner-Webb colleges. He
was an Air Force veteran dur-
ing the Korean War.
He was employed with the
Gaston Gazette from 1950 until
1962 where he served as county
editor, city editor, and manag-
ing editor. From 1969 to 1990 he
served as director of public rela-
tions and company newspaper
editor for Ti-Caro Views. From
1990 until his retirement in 1996
he served as publisher for
Carolina Newspapers, includ-
ing the Yorkville Enquirer and
Clover Herald. He served on
the Communications, Crafted
with Pride, and
Communications Action Group
Committees with the American
Textile Manufacturers Institute.
He was past president of the
Gastonia A.M. Optimist Club,
past director of the Gastonia
Jaycees, and had served on the
board of directors of Myers
Center at Gaston College, the
Gaston County Heart
Association, the Gaston County
Cancer Society, the Gastonia
Children's Center, the Gaston
County United Way, where he
was vice president of the mar-
keting committee and chairman
of the communications commit-
tee. He was also a member of
the Carolinas Association of
Business Communicators, the
Charlotte Textile Club, and the
Charlotte Public Relations
Society. He was chairman of the
National Textile Week
Committee in 1987 and 1988.
He was chairman of the North
Carolina Textile Week
Committee in 1986, chairman of
the Gaston County Textile Week
Committee in 1983, President of
the Gaston County Art and
“History Museum from 1986-
1988. In 1983 he was named |
~ Communicator of the Year by
the Carolinas Association of
Business Communicators. He
also received numerous press
awards. He created the adopt a
district program which pro-
duced 800,000 letters to mem-
bers of Congress. He was a
three time first place winner of
the best newspaper, "The Ti-
Caro Views," by the Carolinas
Association of Business
Communicators, and originated
and developed the "Crafted
With Pride” textile campaign
. that was adopted by ATMI to
be used nationally.
Survivors include his wife,
Dorothy Wellman Jimison; a

A native of Gaston County,
he was the son of the late Paull
and Helen Withers Jenkins. I-Ie
was a U.S. Army veteran of the
Vietnam War, was employed by
Southern Specialty Printing in
Gastonia, and was an active
member of A.A.
Survivors include his forniier

A native of Gaston County,
she was the wife of the late
Lawrence Ramsey and daugh-

Froneberger. She was also pre-
ceded in death by two sons,
Jerry Ward and Jeffery Ward.
She was a homemaker and a
member of Second Baptist
Church.
She is survived by her sons,

More seizures
in big drug bust
Further investigation of
methamphetamine trafficking
in Cleveland County from the
‘West Coast resulted in the
“aseizute ‘of an'additional 1 1/2
pound of "meth" by the
Cleveland County Sheriff's
Department.
Lt. Billy Benton said the
seizure June 23 was a continua-
tion of the investigation of
Ramiro Nava Casas of
California who was arrested
Saturday for trafficking
methamphetamine powder
which has resulted in a total of
at least one kilo seized valued
at $120,000.
Ramiro Nava Casas remains
in the Cleveland County
Detention Center under a
$250,000 bond.
The investigation is ongoing
assisted by the SBI and FBI.
Additional charges and arrests
are pending.
