EdenGardens residents enjoy Christmas party By Alan Hodge Over 50 senior citizen resi- dents at EdenGardens of Kings Mountain celebrated their first annual Christmas season last Thursday with a festive gather- ing in the facility's dining room. On hand as master of cere- monies was local celebrity Jim Belt who belted out a medley of merry Yuletide tunes. Following the songs, which included a very spirited rendi- tion of "The Twelve Days of Christmas," everyone present dug into a generous spread of holiday eats and drink. The EdenGardens seniors present for the event were next treated to a visit from a very en- thusiastic = Santa Claus. Everyone's eyes sparkled as Santa passed out candy canes and hugs. "We're going to make this an annual event,” said EdenGardens director Denise Leonard. Since many of the seniors at EdenGardens spend Christmas day with relatives, the party was held early so everyone could join in. "The residents here are like - one big family," Leonard said. "We really enjoy get togethers like this." With good friends close by, Santa in full swing, and beauti- ful music reminding everyone of the reason for the season, this first EdenGardens Christmas party will likely set the tone for many more in the coming years. The Adult Bible Class of First Wesleyan Church has given support to the Huffman hu- manitarian project by supplying Bibles, among other things, and Ted plans to take a load of chil- dren’s Bibles on another trip in the Fall of 1999. Members of the Huffman family got together with Ted Sunday afternoon to wrap their packages. They included Ted's sisters, Nancy Blake, Marie Wilson and her husband, Jim, Christine Bridges and Ted's brothers, Clyde Huffman, Houston and his wife Rena, Olland and his wife Diane and Calvin and his wife, Donna. Ted’s trip fo Russia will Bam long, about 35 hours, including stops at four airports and a 14- hour train ride from Kiey to Kharko.
