Belt and his wife, Brenda, decided to sponsor the gospel singing after the death of Brenda’s mother, Lucy Seath, at Wendover in November. “We saw just how much Hospice care meant for Mom and we plan to make this bene- fit an annual event in Kings Mountain,” he said. City Manager Jimmy Maney, who is regarded as Kings Mountain's popular “singing manager” by those who have heard him per- form with Fifth Sunday, assist- ed Belt in emcing the event _ which drew more than 500 peo- ple. Other gospel groups besides Fifth Sunday and Belt on the program included Southland of Gastonia, Beacons of Charlotte, and Billie Hicklin and Rev. Steve Accors of Kings Mountain. Walmart of Gastonia led off the contributions with a check for $1,000. Free drawings for Bibles and tee shirts and free refreshments featured the event. A standing ovation went to the finale for the show, a duet by Jim Belt and Terri Lee of “Serenaded by Angels.” Ms. Lee was a frequent visitor to Hospice and was often seen standing in the halls singing the hymn to the terminally ill pa- tients. : Myra McGinnis Hamrick, Hospice Director, accepted the donations and expressed thanks to Kings Mountain area citizens for their support. + JEEP + NISSAN 2 le Ends S99 A -— $2000 Rebate & 4 5.9%APR* - inancing Available 8 rn | Ce 'B > Financing Available i SL 99 BREEZE |) c3161, Automatic Transmission i Shelby List $17,978 "14,449 2 99 FRONTIER KING CAB zhi.
