DER ® DODGE LAUREN DELLINGER Lauren Dellinger Lauren Dellinger, daughter of Linda and Lew Dellinger of Kings Mountain, was one year old May 25. She celebrated with a Rocking Horse theme party. Pizza and salad were served. Guests included grandpar- ents, aunts and uncles. Cousins attending were Elizabeth and David Ray Wells, Morgan and Miles Robinson, Brittany Green and Kirstin Postell. PAISLEY WILLIAMS Paisley Williams Paisley Alexandria Williams celebrated her fifth birthday on March 20. The “Arthur” theme party was held at Shiloh Baptist Church’s Family Life Center in Shelby. Paisley is the daughter of Mr. - and Mrs. Phillip Williams. She has an older sister, Candace, 17. Paisley attended Trinity Day School and is a dance student at “A Dancer’s Place” in Gastonia. Children attending the party were Chris Wray, Deviney McSwain, Naeemah James, Tionka Dye, Cedrick and Felicia Cannon, Christina Jones, Diontra Jones, Maegan Barber, Rasheed and A.J. Rippy, Keondra Manning, and Dymetria and James Bigger. GAVIN SHOCKLEY Gavin Shockley Gavin Caswell Shockley was born May 5, 1999 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. He weighed 10 pounds, one-half ounce and was 21 inches long. Parents are Doug and Karen Shockley of Kings Mountain. Maternal grandparents are Eddie and Pat Payne. Paternal grandparents are Sandi and Ray Bolick and Danny and Becky Shockley. Great-grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Allen, Bill Posey and the late Francis Posey, Lorena Kiser and the late O.C. Kiser, and Garnell Bryant and the late Don Bryant. Great-great-grandparent is Ms. Drucilla Cabe. the first fireworks show ever presented in the town on Independence Day. The public is invited. The display will begin at 9:30 p-m. The University, however, is opening its grounds at 7 p.m. for those who would like to pic- nic.around the lake. Visitors are encouraged to take frisbees, horseshoes or other favorite summertime activities for use near the lake. | Special music, including fa- : vorite beach, selections, will be provided around the lake by WGWG-FM (88.3), the radio station of GWU. Special music will also.accompany the fire- works display. Officers will be directing traf- fic as visitors enter Boiling Springs, helping vehicles to designated parking areas. The suggested route to the area where the fireworks are most visible is South Main Street, turning right on Stadium Drive just past Hardee's. Drew Van Horn, vice-presis, dent for university relations at GWU, said of the event, “From the University’s point of view, we are considering this our gift to the community. So many people in the area have sup- A ported us with their time, effort, | prayers and resources, that we wanted to take this chance to thank everyone.” Melrose South Pyrotechnics Inc. of Catawba, SC will handle the fireworks display. It is the same company that GWU em- ployed last fall for a fireworks display in celebration of the University raising $34 million in a capital campaign. : Cleveland Mall sets celebration on July 3 "Cleveland Mall will hold its annual July fourth celebration Saturday, July 3 beginning at 12 noon. Entertainment will begin at noon on center stage with Tammy Arrowood'’s Stars of Tomorrow, followed by the Wagon Wheelers Square Dance Club. Also performing will be Jukebox Legends by JB Brown. Magic 96.1 FM's Harriet Coffey will host a pre-fireworks party beginning at 6:30 with The Band of Gold. Some lucky shoppers will have a chance to grab for cash in the Magic Money Pit. There will also be a magic fun wheel, price ma- chine, magicians, an Uncle Sam stilt walker, concessions in the parking lot and free face paint- ing for kids. Free glow in the dark yo-yos will be given away at the cus- tomer service booth beginning at 6. p.m. There is a limit of one per child. WOHS (730 AM) will host a special simulcast during the fireworks display which begins at 9:30 p.m. After the fireworks, there will be a moonlight mad- ness sale, with mall stores re- maining open until 11 p.m. ~The event is co-sponsored by Belk, JCPenney, Sears and ~ WOHS.
