A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of Leonidis Jennings Blanton and the late Blanche Euzilla Blanton, and wife of the late Hazel Dean Ward. She was a member of Lily Memorial Baptist Church. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Lenny and Wanda Ward of Shelby; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Walter Webb of Shelby; sisters, Louise Randolph of Boiling Springs and Rena Brackett of Cliffside; brother, Jessie Paul Blanton of Earl; grandson, Matthew Blanton; and granddaughter, PR, Knowledge is Fyersiiung CHECK US OUT! Clay-Barnette Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. TERRY SCOGGINS TERRELL - Terrill Glenn “Terry” Scoggins, 61, formerly of Shelby, died June 18,1999 at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center. A native of Polk County, he was the son of the late Glenn Otto Scoggins. He was also pre- ceded in death by his brother, Danny Scoggins. He was Finance Manager of Griffin Pontiac Buick GMC and was formerly self-employed as an Insurance Agent for Amerigard Insurance Co. and Farm Bureau. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Clara Mildred Horne Scoggins Silvers and Cecil Silvers of Rutherfordton; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Mike Spake of Forest City; son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Katherine Terrill of Terrell; four grandchildren, Amanda Scoggins, Brandi Scoggins, Lacy Scoggins and Jessica Pye; and two grandsons, Matthew Pye and Clint Spake. The funeral was conducted by the Rev. Bruce Rabon at 2 p-m. Sunday at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Park, Spindale. A na- tive of Cleveland County, she of the late O.V. Ellis Sr. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church for 59 years. She served as chairperson over the kitchen for 40 years, and was a member of the Usher Board, Adult Choir, Pastor Parish Committee, Building Committee, Parsonage Committee, President of the United Methodist Women, and member of the St. Paul Friendly Aide Society for 15 years. She was a foster grandmother at Bethware Elementary School after many years of loyal ser-. vice to the late Senator and Mrs. Ollie Harris and Mr. and Mrs. George Mauney. KINGS MOUNTAIN - Irvin ‘Marion “Tootie” Allen Jr., 78, 611 Crescent Circle, died June 16, 1999 at Wendover Hospice Facility in Shelby. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Irvin M. and Maude Weathers Allen Sr. He was also preceded in death by his broth- ers, J. Haywood Allen and George Allen, and his Swen Virginia Drake: 4 He ‘was retired from He exca- vating and grading business and was a member of Saint Matthew's Lutheran Church. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II. While serving in the 8th Army Air Force he flew 62 missions which included the lead plane on D-Day and the Poleski Raid. ‘Hereceived several medals during his service time, includ- ing the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Purple Heart, and Good Conduct : Medak-with 3 bronze stars. He ‘was‘also involved in the jnva- ‘sion'on Normandy in which he received the EA MET Award. He served on the Kings Mountain City Council from 1983-87.
