A native of Gaston County, she was the daughter of R. Bryan and Kathy Farris Gamble and granddaughter of the late Evon G. Farris. She was a rising junior at Bessemer City High School where she was a mem- ber of the band and color guard. She volunteered at Gaston Memorial Hospital as a candys- triper and attended Garrison Memorial A.R. Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her brothers, Kyle and Blair Gamble of the home; grandparents, Robert E. and Polly Putman Gamble and Viola Farris, all of Bessemer City; aunts and uncles, Danny and Janice Gamble, Bud and Linda Hastings, Johnny and Cynthia Freeman, and Donnie Farris, all of Bessemer City; and several cousins. The funeral was conducted by the Rev. David Ellis at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Pisgah ARP Church, Gastonia. Pallbearers were L.P. RUBY WILSON GASTONIA - Ruby Bingham Wilson, 79, 906 Edgewood Road, died June 26, 1999 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. A native of Gastonia, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Lydia Bell Kirkland. She was a former member of Beech Avenue Baptist Church. She is survived by her hus- band, Robert Wilson of the home; son, Don Bingham of Dallas; daughters, Geraldine Mayberry of Clover, SC, Joann Styles of Belmont, Catherine Busha of Kings Mountain and Barbara Cantrell of Gastonia; brother, Harold Kirkland of Gastonia; five stepchildren, 10 step grandchildren, 17 step- great-grandchildren, 16 grand- children, 23 great-grandchil- dren, and one great-great-granddaughter. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Arnold Philbeck and Alice Hesentine Philbeck. She was also preceded in death by her son, Rodney Ross; brother, Robert Eugene Philbeck; and sister, Roberta Francine Philbeck. She was employed by Drexel Furniture and was a member of New Buffalo Baptist Church. She is survived by her hus- band, Russell Dean Owensby of the home; son and daughter-in- law, Tommy Scott and Connie Ross of Shelby; daughter, Cynthia Ann Ross of Polkville; brothers, Bobby Gene Philbeck of Patterson Springs and Michael Terry Philbeck of Kings Mountain; and sisters, Betty Jean McFarland of Patterson Springs, Bertha Ann Yelton of Kings Mountain, and Nancy Faye Causby of Grover. She and her husband, - Boyce, operated the Lions Motel for several years. She was a member of Ancient City Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Constance Reed, in 1980. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Gus Lee Anthony and Estelle Lee McMurry Anthony. He was also preceded in death by his brother Shannon Anthony, half brother Astor Anthony, half sisters Mozelle Farmer and Gladys Weathers, and one nephew. He was an employee of Cleveland Lumber Company and a member of Hoey United Methodist Church. He is survived by his sisters and brothers in law Carolyn and J.B. County Republicans plan first family day .The Cleveland County Republican Party will hold its first annual Family Day at the Shelby Carousel Saturday, July 10 from 10 a.m.-12 noon. Rides on the carousel will be free, and refreshments will be served. “The Cleveland County Republican Party is doing this both as a thank you to the pub- lic for electing a Republican ma- jority to the County Commission, and more impor- tantly, to give families with young children a fun day at the carousel at no charge,” said Chairman Tim Moore. “This is not a political event,” am mm mmm mmm nn Moore added. “What we are looking to do is provide a day of fun for families and draw at- tention to one of Shelby’s best attractions.
