ALAN HODGE/THE HERALD New owner of Rick's Ole Country Store Barry Patel (left) and former owner Rick Moore share a laugh behind the checkout counter. After more than 20 years in business, Moore recently sold the conve- nience store and grill in the Ebenezer community to Patel. Rick’s Ole Country Store sold to Bob and Barry Patel Rick’s Ole Country Store on Cherryville Highway is under new ownership. Bob and Barry Patel of Monroe bought the business from Rick and Jean Moore July 23. The Moores have owned the business for 20 years, expand- ing itfroma Citgo service sta- tion and convenience store to a grill and 48-unit mini ware- house and storage facility on the three acre lot. “It was with mixed emotions that we decided to get out of the convenience store operation but I wanted to devote full time to the operation of Timms Furniture and Appliances on S. Battleground Avenue,” said Rick Moore, owner. The Patels say they plan to continue the good customer ser- vice initiated by Moore. “I really want to thank my customers for their patronage over the years,” said Moore. Kings Mountain natives and longtime residents, Rick and his wife, Jean Moore, bought the popular Kings Mountain busi- ness, Timms Furniture, from Gene Timms October 5, 1998. Larry Dunn, formerly with Timms for a number of years, continues as business manager. Moore's daughter, Karla Moore Drennan, is assistant sales man- ager.
