Page 2A i gut OBITUARIE Herald/Times « \ } August 19, 1999 MARY ALICE McDANIEL KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mary Alice McDaniel, 62, 803 West Gold Street, died August 16, 1999 at Kings Mountain Hospital. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Helen Humphries McDaniel and W.G. “Bill” McDaniel. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church. She was retired secretary for Kerns Trucking, and also was organist for Central United Methodist Church for a number of years. She is survived by one uncle, four aunts and a number of cousins. A graveside service was con- ducted by the Rev. Harrison Hinson at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Mountain Rest Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church, 113 South Piedmont Avenue, Kings Mountain, NC 28086. Cleveland Funeral Services, Shelby, was in charge of ar- rangements. JAMES WRAY SHELBY- James Willard Wray, 66, 105 Drum Road, died August 11, 1999 at his home. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late David Charles and Anna LaNora Towery Wray. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Rev. Charles W. Wray, and a sister Judith Wray Lingerfelt. He was a truck driv- er with Burlington Industries, a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Casar, and a U.S. Navy veteran. He is survived by his wife of the home Betty Lou Dollison Wray; son James Christopher Wray of the home; daughter Jamie Christine Wray McSwain of Shelby; sisters Velma Cook of Shelby, Nellie Shuford of Lawndale, and Joann Machleit of Spotsylvania, Virginia; grandson K.J. Wray. The funeral was conducted Friday at Clay-Barnette Chapel at 2 pm by the Revs. Wade Boone and Dale Angel. Burial was in Palm Tree UMC Cemetery. ig FLORA PUTNAM SHELBY- Flora Belle Hamrick Putnam, 88, 930 Pleasant Dr. died August 10, 1999 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Ida Humphries Hamrick. She was also preceded in death by her husband the late Gerald Eugene Putnam, sisters Ola Bridges, Bessie Humphries, and Irene Adams, and brothers Ferris Hamrick, Elbert Hamrick, Lester Hamrick, and Lloyd Hamrick. She was a homemak- er and a member of Zoar Baptist Church. She is survived by a sister, Vernie Bolton of Shelby, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral was conducted at Clay Barnette Chapel at 11 am Friday by the Rev. Kenneth Morrison. Burial was in Cleveland Memorial Park. NORA NEISLER PAGELAND, S.C.- Nora Jane Neisler, 63, S. Arant Drive, Pageland, S.C., died August 14, 1999 at her home. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Martha Rhea Reese. She was also pre- ceded in death by her brother Edgar “June” Deese. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Horeb Presbyterian Church in Carvers, N.C. She is survived by her sons Preston Neisler and his wife Sheila of Pageland, Matt Neisler and wife Tammy of Pageland, and Chris Neisler and wife Crystal of Mayer, Arizona; sis- ter in law Wilma Deese ; grand- children Dillon Neisler, Allen Henley, Tommy Henley, Katrina Neisler, and Preston Neisler III; also a number of nieces and nephews. She was educated in + Kings Mountain and Bessemer City schools and graduated from Kings Mountain High School in 1944. She had a career in the medical field as doctor assistant for Drs. Freeman, White, Bolin, Dickson, and Baagil, and served as a private duty care giver for many pa- tients. She was a former mem- ber of Ragan Wesleyan Church, First ARP Church, Parkwood Baptist Church, and current member of Love Memorial Baptist Church. She is survived by her son David Carl Frederick and wife Molly of Ocean Isle Beach, N.C.; daughter Valarie Joanne Frederick-Hayes and husband Matt of Gastonia; granddaugh- ters C. Shannon Clubb and M. Lindsey Clubb of Gastonia; for- mer son in law John W. Clubb, Jr. of Gastonia; aunts Getrude C. Puckett of Bessemer City and Celestine C. Howard of Landrum, S.C.; a number of cousins and nine grand dogs. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Martha Pearson McIntire. She was a re- tired textile worker and a mem- ber of East Gold Street Wesleyan Church. She is survived by her son, Paul Ham Jr., and wife, Dot, of Kings Mountain; grandchildren, Jodie Parker and Paula Perkins Wilson; and great-grandchil- dren, Robin Perkins, Chad Perkins, Wesley Parker and Ben Parker. A native of Halifax County, VA, she was the daughter of the late Cephus and Sadie Walker Viccellio and wife of the late Garnett Walton Moore Sr. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Susan Lee and Rosa Mae Russell. She was retired from Wal- Mart, and was a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church. He was pastor and founder of Woodbridge Four Square Gospel Church, Shelby, and an employee of Randle Brothers, Inc. He is survived by his wife Andra “Ann” Sprouse Randle of Kings Mountain; sons David Charles Randle and wife Dawn of Greenville, N.C., Timothy Neal Randle and fiance Roxann of Kings Mountain; daughter Christie Lynn Randle Sims and husband Toby of Kings Mountain; father Howard Randle of Kings Mountain; brothers Larry Randle, Tony Randle, and Hoyle Randle all of - Kings Mountain; three grand- . children, Janel Randle, Sean Randle, and Dylon Sims. BESSEMER CITY - Robert Dean Colvin Sr., 74, 507 East Iowa Avenue, died August 11, 1999 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Graham County, TN and son of the late Edward and Gussie Colvin. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Rev. Richard Colvin; and sister, Arbie Colvin. He served as a PFC in the U.S. Marine Corp during World War II. He was a former mem- ber of Faith Baptist Church, Bessemer City. He was retired Police CHIEF of Bessemer City, serving in that position from 1967-1987. He be- gan his law enforcement career in 1962 as an office. He was an honorary member of the American Legion Post 243, Bessemer City. He is survived by his wife, Maude Colvin of the home; son, Robert Dean and wife, Melanie Colvin, of Cherryville; daugh- ters and sons-in-law, Geraldine and Keith Edwards of Bessemer City, Chris and Glenn Greenwell of Kings Mountain, and Debi Adams of Bessemer City; brothers, Curtis Colvin of Bessemer City and Reid Colvin of Valdese; sisters, Mamie Poteat and Maxine Barrett of Gastonia, and Bell Campbell of Bessemer City; and seven grandchildren, Donnie Edwards, April Edwards, Robby Adams, Jessica and Brandy Greenwell, and Jenne and Anne Colvin. The funeral was conducted by the Revs. Jerry Millwood, Bob Hope and Dennis Wells at 2 p-m. Saturday at Westview Baptist Church, Gastonia. Burial was in Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery. DANIEL WALLACE SHELBY- Daniel Thomas Wallace, 53; 2912 Highlands Circle, died August 15, 1999 at home. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Loran Daniel Wallace. He was retired and permanently disabled from Dixie Industrial Supply in Shelby where he was an Industrial Sales Supplier Representative servicing Drexel Furniture Industries for 15 years. He served four years with honors in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.
