PEARSONS ON ANNIVERSARY

honored on 50th anniversary

...celebrate Golden Wedding Day
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Leon Pearson Sr. celebrat-
ed their Golden Wedding Day Sunday at an an-
niversary party hosted by their childrenrand:© i
grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. R. L. “Butch” Pearson Jr., of
Kings Mountain, their sons, Isaac Watson
Pearson and John Ray “Jack” Pearson, and
Linda and Billy King and their sons, Billy Jr.
and Brian Pearson King of Wilmington, hosted
the reception at the Kings Mountain home of
the Butch Pearsons.
Assisting in receiving and serving refresh-
ments were Shirley Mayes, Libby Hawkins,
Debbie Mauney, Mary Whisnor and Charlie
Miller. The reception helpers were also present
for the Pearsons 25th wedding saniversry par-
Debbie Mauney, who decorated the Pearson
home as a gift to the honored couple, centered
the dining room table with an arrangement of
50 pastel-colored roses. The anniversary cake,
topped with a bride and groom figurine inter-
twined in double wedding rings, was cut and
served by Mrs. Mauney. Libby Hawkins served
punch in the family room.
Yellow and green featured the decorative
motif. Family pictures and memorabilia were
conversation pieces throughout the house.
Elvia Smith and Roy Pearson started dating
over 50 years ago when they were introduced at
a youth fellowship meeting at Grace United
Methodist Church. Kings Mountain natives,
they were educated at Kings Mountain High
School and have long been active in community
life. They married August 12,1949 in a ceremo-
ny officiated by Rev. C. B. Bobbitt at Macedonia
Baptist Church parsonage. Their attendants
were D. C. and Faye Caldwell Payseur and the
Rev. “Poochie” Shytle.
Pearson is a retired recreation director for the
City of Kings Mountain. Mrs. Pearson is retired
from the Cleveland County Department of
Social Services. They are members of First
Baptist Church.
Mrs. Pearson is the daughter of the late Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Smith. She has one brother,
Clyde Smith of Columbia, SC.
Mr. Pearson is the son of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Bob Pearson. He has two brothers, Olland
and Flay Pearson, both of Kings Mountain; and
one sister, Roberta Cobb of Detroit, Michigan.
Seventy friends and family members attend-
ed the 2-4 p.m. reception.

Kimberly Diane Roper and Timothy Albert
Gaddy were married on July 27, 1999, at the
VanLandingham Estate in Charlotte with the
Reverand Patrick Maloy officiating.
A rehearsal dinner was given at the bride and
grooms home by the groom’s father, Danny
Gaddy.
The bride wore a white gown by Carolyn
Shepard Design Group. Her bouquet included
Nosegay of 30 Virginia roses .
The bride’s wedding party included Autumn
Sarah Roper, the bride’s daughter, as the ma-
tron of honor; and Whitney Roper and Brittney
Gaddy of Kings Mountain and Lora Price of
Belmont as bridesmaids. They wore black
gowns and carried bouquets of Nosegay of
bright mixed flowers.
The groom's wedding party included
Timothy Gaddy, the groom’s son, as best man;
and Troy Roper, Robby Gaddy, and Jack
Jackson, all of Kings Mountain, as ushers.
They spent their honeymoon in Asheville at
the Grove Park Inn. :
Kimberly Roper-Gaddy of Grover, NC is the
daughter of Donald and Carolyn R. Whetstine
of Grover. Timothy Albert Gaddy of Kings
Mountain is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Danny
Gaddy of Grover.
The couple will reside in Kings Mountain.

Kimberly Lynn Mosteller is engaged to
Christopher Brell Carrigan with an approach-
ing wedding set for October 2, 1999.
Kimberly Lynn Mosteller of Lincolnton, is the
daughter of Tom and Patsy Mosteller of
Lincolnton. She attended Gaston College and is
a hairstylist at Nu-Image in Lincolnton.
Christopher Brell Carrigan of Kings
Mountain, is the son of Gerald and Brenda
Carrigan of Kings Mountain. He is a plumber at
Dellinger Plumbing.
MR. AND MRS. BRYAN KISER

Campbell-Kiser
Jane Annis Campbell of Kings Mountain,
daughter of Clarence Jennings Campbell and
the late Matoka Lee Campbell, married Bryan
Clay Kiser of Shelby on June 28 in Montego
Bay, Jamaica.
The ceremony took place on the beach of
Breezes resort and was performed in the Parish
of Saint James by Ambrose Hind, marriage
officer of the island of Jamaica.
The witnesses were Jamaican and dressed in
Jamaican attire. Alecia Chiaholm attended the
bride, and Emery Scott was the groom's atten-
dant.
The bride wore a white ball gown in satin
and lace. It was fashioned with a portrait collar
neckline, basque waist and long sheer sleeves
accented with schiffli lace, pearls and sequins.
The bodice was trimmed with schiffli lace,
pearls and sequins. The skirt flows into an ex-
tended chapel-length train with scalloped schif-
fli lace hem. The back is finished with a peplum
of tulle and adorned with the scallop schiffli
lace. She wore a pearl cluster tiara with a two
tier elbow-length veil with scattered pearls and
her bouquet was made of tropical flowers with
colors of pink and crimson red.
The groom, son of Wilbur Clay Kiser and the
late Mabel Deck Kiser, wore a Lord West New
York notch full dress black tuxedo with a white
vest.
The couple’had an outdoor wedding recep-
tion July 17 at the Kiser home located-on Moss.”
Lake, Shelby. Students of Miss Campbell per- |
formed specially choreographed dances to
“Amazing Grace” and “Arms of An Angel.”
The music was provided by Ron Feemster who
played a variety of music on his keyboard, in-
cluding Jamaican, Top 40, classical, love songs,
jazz and hymns.
The bride has owned and operated Jane
Campbell Dance Academy since 1980. She has a
B.S. Degree in Dance Education from UNC-
Greensboro. She also is co-owner and manager
of All-American Fitness in Kings Mountain.
The groom is a lifelong resident of Shelby. He
has an Education Degree from Gardner-Webb
University in Boiling Springs and has been
teaching 12 years in the Kings Mountain School
System.

were married May 8, 1999, at the Bonclarken
Chapel in Flat Rock, NC with the Reverend Rob
Fuquay of Long’s Chapel in Lake Junaluska,
NC officiating.
A rehearsal dinner was at the Bonclarken
Chapel grounds Dining Hall by Melvin and
Janet Ware. A reception was given at the
Bonclarken Chapel grounds by Paula Cobb,
Tammy Bridges, and Karen and Marcia
Brinkley.
The bride wore a white off the shoulder or-
ganza dress with open neckline and short
sleeves. The gown had appliques of alencon
beaded lace scattered throughout the skirt and
royal cathedral train. She carried a cascading
bouquet of white roses accented with yellow
sweetheart roses.
The bride’s wedding party included
Maureen Nolte of Toronto, CAN as her maid of
honor; Jaya Amar of Reidsville, NC, Susan
Anderson of Barnwell, SC, Janet Ritter of
Houston, TX, Michelle Strickland of Shelby,
NC, Rhonda Wesson of Shelby, NC and Julie
Gantt of Rock Hill, SC as bridesmaids.
The bridesmaids wore a tea-length navy
georgette dress with scoop neckline and short
sleeves. They carried bouquets of wildflowers
accented with yellow sweetheart roses hand
tied with a white bow.
The groom's wedding party included Melvin
Ware, the groom's father as best man; Mark
Hardin of Smyrna, SC, Charlie Bridges of

Mt. Carmel, TN.
Brandi Nicole Rogers of Mt. Holly, is the
daughter of Ronnie and Susan Rogers of
Canton. She is a 1992 graduate of Pisgah High
School in Canton. She also a 1996 MIS graduate
from Gardner-Webb University.
Brian Luther Ware of Shelby, is the son of
Melvin and Janet Ware of Blacksburg, SC. He is
a 1988 graduate of Blacksburg High School. He
also graduated in 1992 from Erskine College
and a 1996 MBA graduate of Gardner-Webb
University.
The couple went to Savannah, GA for their
honeymoon. They will reside in Kings
Mountain.
