Herald/Times October 28, 1999 Woman's Club holds fall festival The Kings Mountain Woman's Club invited the pub- lic to its annual Fall Festival Floral Fair at their Clubhouse’ on October 20. Over 1,000 peo- ple attended, of which 800 stayed to eat. The Woman's Club Bazaar cleared $953 from the event. Pat Childers, chair of student arts and crafts, extends thanks to teachers for encouraging their students to place work in the student art show. Middle school and high school student entries were judged. All partici- pants received a ribbon. The judges were A.B. Snow and Margaret Dixon. First place rib- bons were awarded to Amy Phillips, Kenny Grant (2), Christina Watson, and W.M. Moore. Peggy Baird, chair of adult arts and crafts, thanked the adults for placing their art and crafts for display. She was - especially pleased with'the at tractiveness of the art rooms. There were 116 horticulture's =: entries, 16 Niches, and four-ta< - bles. Forty-severi blue fibbons were given, along with 38 red *' ribbons, 16 yellow ribbons] and” \ 13 white ribbons. Special rib- bons included Best of Show, Tri- Color Award, Awards of Merit, Table Artistry, and Designer’s Choice. Tables in the table division were open to the four garden clubs and to the Woman's Club. The standard system of judging was used. Magnolia Garden Club won the blue ribbon for its table as well as the Best of the Show and Table Artistry rib- . bons. Kings Mountain Garden Club received the second place red ribbon. Town and Country Garden Club took the yellow ribbon and Honorable Mention went to the Open Gate Garden Club. Exhibitions were open to the public in the niche division. This year, niches were divided into four classes with four nich- es in each class. In the “Autumn Beauty” class, a blue ribbon and + -the Tri-Color Award went to + "Louise Roberts of the Open Gate Garden Club. The red rib- bon went to Town and Country 7 Garden Club. The yellow rib- ' bon was awarded to Magnolia """'Garden Club which used Scott “INeisler’s beautiful dahlias. The + ‘white ribbon was awarded to Sarah Frances Faunce who de- signed her niche of dead flow- ers in memory of club member Eloise Crawford. In the “Magic of Christmas” class, Mary Pat Elledge won a blue ribbon, Open Gate Garden Club with Margaret McCarter won the red ribbon, Magnolia Garden Club took the yellow ribbon, and Town and Count . Garden Club received the white. In the “Look to the Future” class, a blue ribbon and the Designer's Choice went to Esther Muench and the Magnolia Garden Club. The red ribbon was given to Town and Country Garden Club, the yel- low ribbon to Open Gate Garden Club, and the white rib- bon to Mary Pat Elledge. In the “Down by the Sea” class, Town and Country Garden Club won the blue ribbon, Sarah Faunce took the red ribbon, Open Gate Garden Club won the yellow, and Hazel Jackson earned the white ribbon. The flower girl; Ms: Elizabeth Grace Parker of Marietta, Georgia, wore a, long tulle dress with a beaded lace bodice with layers of gath-- ered tulle for the sleeves. The groom is a graduate of Conroe High School and a 1989 graduate of Southwest Texas State University with a double major degree in Business and Communications.
