Melissa Ann Carpenter and Gervaise “Gerry”
Clifton Andre II, both of Kings Mountain, ex-
changed marriage vows October 18, 1999 at
Sandals in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
The bride is the daughter of Linda and Larry
Carpenter of Kings Mountain. She is the grand-
daughter of Annie and William Carpenter of
Charlotte, and the late Janice and Jim Grier of
Mount Holly. She is employed by Fred Caldwell
Chevrolet, Inc.
The groom is the son of Linda and Don Allen of
Kings Mountain, and Cliff Andre of Wagoner,
Oklahoma. He is the grandson of Louise Andre of
Tulsa, Oklahoma, Garrett Thomas of Shelby, the
late Elizabeth Thomas of Shelby, the late Howard
Andre of Baton Rouge, LA, Lillian Summers of
Grover, and the late D.R. Summers of Grover.
The parents attended the ceremony in Jamaica.
The small but elegant ceremony was held in a
gazebo overlooking the water.
The couple and their parents enjoyed cham-
pagne and hor d'oeuvres at a reception immedi-
ately following the ceremony.
The couple is residing in Kings Mountain.

Kings Mountain Senior Center calendar of
events for November and December.
HB The Senior Center will give USDA commodi-
ties at the center on Tuesday, Dec. 14 from 12:30-
2:30 p.m. To receive commodities eligible persons
must pre-register on December 1, 2 and 3 from 9-
11 a.m. by calling the Center at 734-0447.
Only seniors age 60 and older who preregister
will be eligible to pick up commodities.
H Senior Center socials are scheduled for
Friday, Nov. 19 and Saturday, Dec. 4. There will
not be a social on December 17 but the annual
Christmas party will be on December 16 from 2-4
am.
The Friday, Nov. 19 social will be a “Bring a
Toy, Share Some Joy” event. Each guest is asked
to take a $5 to $10 toy for a boy or girl ages 2-16.
Toys will be delivered by the KM Baptist associa-
tion to needy kids for Christmas.
The band “The Ordinaries” will donate their
time for the social.
The Dec. 4 social will be the annual Christmas
dance. Dress in your best red and green outfits.
HB Monthly blood pressure clinics are held the
third Wednesday of each month from 10-11:30
a.m. Manicures and pedicures are held the second
Wednesday of each month by appointment only.
Legal services (wills, living wills and other assis-
tance) are offered the first Friday of each month
by appointment only.
8 The annual Christmas party will be held for
all seniors in the Kings Mountain School District
on December 16 from 2-4 p.m.
Door prizes will be given by area businesses.
Hl A change has been made in the way TACC
arranges Charlotte transportation for seniors.
TACC will begin making only two round trips to
Charlotte per day. Anyone with a doctor’s ap-
pointment in Charlotte between 9 a.m.-12 non
will need to be ready for pick up by 7 a.m. The
TACC van will return at 1 p.m. to take those per-
sons home.
If your doctor’s appointment is 1 p.m. or later,
you need to be ready for pick up by 11 a.m. TACC
will pick up this group at 4 p.m. for the return
trip home. Anyone who cannot leave Charlotte
by 4 p.m. will have to make other arrangements
for transportation back home.
HM The Center nutrition site will be closed on
November 25-26 for Thanksgiving, and
December 24 and 27 for Christmas.
BM The Whistlestop Boutique offers many new
items for Christmas. The shop is open to the pub-
lic daily from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and on the first
Saturday of the month from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

crafts or food items for resale at the shop. Take
items between 9 a.m-1 p.m. daily. Crafters earn
90% of the sale and the shop earns 10%.
Crafters who have had items at the shop for
more than a year need to pick them up.

natural dark brown ranch mink coat with a full
collar and 62” sweep. It will be given away in a

David Baptist Bake sale,
bazaar set November 13
David Baptist Church is gearing up for its third
annual craft bazaar and bake sale November 13
from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. in the church fellowship build-
ing across from Bethware School.
Doors open at 7 a.m. with sausage biscuits and
country ham biscuits, coffee, orange juice, and
other goodies. Hot dogs will be sold beginning at
11 a.m. The public is invited.
Many handmade items will be offered for sale.
The women of the church have been gathering
every Tuesday night for several months to pre-
pare a variety of items for the bazaar. :

Macedonia youth set ham sale
The youth of Macedonia Baptist Church, 1101
S. Battleground Ave., Kings Mountain, are spon-
. soring their annual Thanksgiving ham sale.
They will offer an eight-pound precooked ham
for a donation of $20. Pick-up and delivery times
are from 8 a.m.-12 noon and from 8 p.m.-9 p.m.
on Wednesday, Nov. 24, and from 7-10 a.m. on
Thursday, Nov. 25.

Judge Caldwell ministers in area prisons, and at
First United Methodist Church where he is a
Sunday School teacher. Judge Caldwell is
heavily involved in the community and he also
has served on over 15 past of present board of
directors. He currently presides as the Senior
Resident Superior Court Judge of Gaston County.
In addition to his duties as presiding Judge
wherever he might be assigned in the state, he
is responsible for the administrative duties
required for the supervision of the local courts.
