The board will hear a code enforcement update and rezon- ing requests from Jim Belt, Robert and Betty Sue Morris, Ellen Ferro, Roger Bowen, Hubert H. Bowen, Roger and Julie Miller, TeeJay Redmond, and Melody Murray. The board will also hear an arcade text amendment propos- al from Chief of Police Richard Reynolds. Herald/Times Gingerbread House contest at Arts Council The fourth annual Gingerbread House Contest and exhibit opens Thursday. Dec. 2 at the Cleveland County Arts Council. In conjunction with the con- test, anyone age 5 and older is invited to create an original Christmas ornament to be judged and exhibited. Entries will be judged in four different age categories and cash prizes of over $800 will be awarded in each division. Entries for both contests will be accepted between 12-5:30 p-m. Monday, Nov. 29 at the Arts Center.The exhibit will open to the public December 2, with a reception from 5:30-7 p-m. The exhibit will remain up through December 17. Registration forms and rules are available at the Arts Center * or by calling 484-2787. BM A Christmas Fantasy Class will be held November 30 from 7-9 p.m. The cost is $20. Windjammers MC set ride for children The Windjammers Motorcycle Club will present its 11th annual Ride for the Children of Cleveland County Sunday, Dec. 19. Participants will begin lining up in the Ingle’s parking lot of West Dixon Blvd., Shelby, at 1:30 p.m. They will leave at 2 p.m. in parade route, escorted by the Cleveland County Sheriff's Department, to the children’s home. Donations to the club will help brighten the Christmas season for residents of the Children’s Homes of Cleveland County. Those who donate to the pro- ject will be treated to a free breakfast before the ride, and a free pig pickin’ afterward.
