Bob McRae to negotiate a purchase price for a new grade, Posthon], rt BERET The Board unanimously set- tled on the Beam property, a 58- acre tract adjacent to Kings Mountain Middle School. The property fronts a small portion of Phifer Road, but its main entrance would be on the new Dixon School Road Extension. The other piece of property considered was the Elam prop- erty which adjoins Phifer and Crocker roads. : Some board members noted that the Beam property’s prox- imity to the middle school gives the system long-range potential to share athletic fields and to construct another exit road out of the high school/middle school property. : Some board members added that the new Dixon School Road provides better opportunities for managing traffic and having adequate entrances and exits from the school. -* The Board hopes to have the ‘price negotiated by Tuesday so .it can take its purchase request to the meeting of the Cleveland County Board of Commissioners, which must approve any new school con- struction in the county.
