LL, 2000 at his home.
A native of Greenville, SC, he
was the son of the late Charles
Mack and Eva Gilligan Biddix
and husband of the late Inez
Biddix. He served in the U.S.
Army as a MP. He was retired
from the textile industry.
He is survived by his sons,

she was the daughter of the late
John Newton Henderson and
Mary Elizabeth Quinn
Henderson, and wife of the late
Roland R. Lambert. She was a
homemaker and a member of
Cedar Grove Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son,
Kenneth Charles Lambert of

13, 2000 at Gaston Memorial
Hospital.
A native of Gaston County,
she was the daughter or the late
Conway Jackson and Dovie
Buff Gault, and wife of the late
Clyde Watts Blankenship. She
was a former resident of Kings
Mountain and a longtime resi-
dent of North Myrtle Beach, SC.
She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her sons,
Col. Alan Blankenship of San
Antonio, TX, and Joseph Wade
“Joe” Blankenship and wife,
Marty, of Snellville, GA; broth-

from Lithium Corp., Bessemer
City.

February 9, 2000 at his home.
‘A native of Cabarrus County,
he was the son of the late
Joseph David and Pearl Tiller
Fisher, and husband of the late
Janet Bryant Fisher. He was a
member of the True Gospel
Holiness Church and served in
the North Carolina National
Guard. He was retired from
“Glen Raven and Clevemont
Mills.
He is survived by his son,
Phillip Fisher and wife, Brenda,
of Kings Mountain; daughter,
Jodi Fisher of Kings Mountain;
brother, Guy Fisher of Winston-
Salem; sisters, Lula Terry of
Kings Mountain, Elsie Dixon of
Kings Mountain, Lois Brown of
Gastonia, Bea Long of Kings

Decatur, GA, and Peg Fipps of
Georgia; 12 grandchildren and

JOHN ED DAVIS JR.
GASTONIA - John Ed Davis
Jr. died February 9, 2000 at
Gaston Memorial Hospital after
a short illness.
* He was a former resident of
Shelby and had been a resident
of Gastonia Village Assisted
Living Alzheimer’s Home for
the past few years.
He was preceded in death by
‘his wife, Essie “Sug” Davis; his
parents, John Ed Davis Sr. and
Mattie Hamrick Davis; brother,
‘Walter Davis; and sister, Annie
Davis Lewis.
‘He was a native of
Rutherford County. He attend-
ed Wake Forest University and
graduated with honors from
N.C. State University with a de-
gree in vocational agriculture.
He taught agriculture for two
years at Mooresboro High
School. After that he was in the
U.S Army fro 1942-1945. After
being discharged from the mili-

He was active in First Baptist
Church, where he served as a

He was a member of the
Cleveland County Social
Services Board, was on the
Board of Directors for Habitat
for Humanity, the Council on
Aging, and the Hawaii Baptist
Academy in Honolulu, Hawaii.
He served as chairman of the
Piedmont Council of Boy Scouts
of America and as a trustee of
the Cleveland County
Memorial Library. He also
helped organize and served as
Chairman of the Red Cross
Blood Program in Cleveland
County and was the Chairman
of the Cleveland County
Chapter of the American
Cancer Society. He was
Chairman of the Housing
Committee of the Piedmont
Area Development Association
and was an officer on the Board
of the Senior Center. He served

of Shelby; six grandchildren,

Nick Cole, Damien Morand,
and Trisha Whatley; brother

deayors. She was an active
member of the Woodman of the
World and enjoyed antique doll
collecting and trading, and fish-
ing.
