Sm—— A Page 8B BUSINESS BRIEFS | Russel Sprehe named First Charter officer First Charter has announced the appointment of Russel D. Sprehe to the position of Commercial Relationship Officer. His responsibili- ties include the manage- ment and de- velopment of commercial banking rela- tionships in the western region of the state. His office is located in the Shelby financial center. Prior to assuming his new position with First Charter, Sprehe was employed at First Citizens Bank for 14 years, serv- ing most recently as a Commercial Banking Manager. Sprehe is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. He completed Financial Analysis course work through the Babcock School of Management at Wake Forest University He lives in Shelby with his wife, Terrie, and their two sons, Chad and Brett. $108 million in loans available to homeowners The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development Mission Area an- nounces the availability of $108 million for rural housing loans for the state. CCB Financial reports earnings CCB Financial Corporation today reported that first quarter 2000 diluted income per share increased 1.2 percent to 84 cents. This compared to 83 cents per diluted share earned in the first quarter of 1999. First quarter 1999 income in- cluded a branch sale gain of ap- proximately $1 million and a gain on the sale of approximate- ly $200 million in mortgage loans. Three join board of CCB in KM Central Carolina Bank has an- nounced the appointment of three new members to the Cleveland County local adviso- ry board. David C. Brinkley, owner of Diversified Business Concepts, John O. Harris II, owner of Harris Funeral Home, and Nelson (Jerry) Morris, own- er of Morris Scrap Metal, joined the advisory board in the first quarter of 2000. Piedmont Ave., re- ported two incidences of someone tampered with an electrical meter. Brian Daley, 1618 Shelby Rd., reported that someone broke into his vehicle and stole CDs valued at $110, a cell mag lite valued at $40, and a spot light valued at $30. , Michael Cole, 210 E. Ridge St., reported larceny of two cement baskets containing flowers and plastic eggs, valued at $100. Regina Gregg, 151 Harbortown Dr., reported that someone stole her purse and contents at Kings Mountain Hospital. Value of missing items was $125. Angela Lainhardt, 214 E. Ridge St., reported the larceny of potted plants and a fern, total value $45. WRECKS Vehicles driven by Kellie Shelton and Frances Whitley struck at the intersection of S. Battleground and E. Gold St. Damage to Shelton’s car was $1,000 and damage to Whitley's was $2,000. Lizzie Hayes of Kings Mountain was cited for an unsafe movement following an accident on E. King St., involving her vehicle and one driven by Quinton Rikard of Kings Mountain. Damage to each vehicle was $1,500. Vehicles driven by Ashley Perrell of Shelby and Teresa Neal of Bessemer City bumped in the drive- through at Burger King. Damage to Perrell’s car was $150 and damage to Neal's was $500. Martha McConnell of Kings Mountain was cited for a safe movement violation following an accident on York Road between her vehicle and one driven by James Farr of Kings Mountain. Damage to McConnell's car was $1,500 and damage to Farr’s was $3,000. Vehicles driven by Evan Ellis and Carrie Sizemore, both of Kings Mountain, struck on Phifer Road. Damage to the Ellis car was $1,500 and damage to the Sizemore car was $5,000. Cars driven by Willis King and William Marra, both of Kings Mountain, struck in the parking lot at the in- tersection of S. Battleground and E. Gold St. Damage to each vehicle was $500. A car driven by Carrie Lavere of Bessemer City .sideswiped a telephone pole at U.S. 74 and North Cansler St., causing $1,200 damage to the car. A vehicle driven by Michael Grigg of Mount Holly struck a vehicle operated by Elizabeth Jones of Shelby on Floyd St. Damage to the Grigg car was $400, and damage to the Jones car was $500. A vehicle driven by Angela Davis of Kings Mountain was entering a lane of traffic on S. Piedmont Ave. and struck a vehicle operated by Helen House of Kings Mountain. Damage to the Davis vehicle was $100 and damage to the House vehicle was $400. According to Ptl. R.S. Davis, a vehicle driven by Chad Cornwell of Shelby hydroplaned on U.S. 74 by- pass and struck a vehicle driven by Pamela Forcinelli of Little Switzerland, NC, causing $500 damage to Cornwell’s car and $2,500 to Forcinelli’s. Davis said a third vehicle, driven by Steven Passmore of Rutherfordton, swerved to miss the accident.
