Page 2B Herald/Times Cars for Kids Saturday car show at Food Lion in KM to benefit Children’s Miracle Network Beautiful cars for a beautiful cause will fill the parking lot at the Kings Mountain Food Lion grocery store on Saturday, April 29 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. : Part of Food Lion's effort to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network, the car show will al- so feature food, refreshments, and a car wash. “The Children’s Miracle Network is a wonder- ful thing for children and their families in need of medical help,” said Food Lion manager Tosh Potter. Food Lion’s connection with the Children’s Miracle Network goes back 10 years. Children’s Miracle Network provides monetary assistance for families of children who have medical expens- es beyond their financial means. The program is in 33 hospitals in 11 states. “Food Lion has raised over $10 million since we first became involved in the program,” said Karen Wilkinson of Food Lion's public affairs of- fice in Salisbury. “We raised $1.73 million last year’s campaign.” So far, the Kings Mountain Food Lion has raised $750 for the Children’s Miracle Network by selling donations at $1 each. The drive will - continue until April 29. The car show promises to display some inter- esting iron. Viewers can expect to see everything from restored classics to full-blown hot rods. Custom motorcycles will also be on display. Entry fee for vehicles in the show is $10 which will also be donated to the Children’s Miracle Network. Clubs that will be participating will include the Mountaineer Cruisers from Kings Mountain, the Carolina Cruisers, and the Confederate Corvette Club. Show organizer Doug Peterson says there could be as many as 30 entries. To wrap up this year’s fund raising campaign, the Children’s Miracle Network will hold its an- nual telethon on June 3 and 4.
