year, this handmade quilt by Pat Still and Shirley Brutko will
eventually hang in the Kings Mountain History Museum. The
quilt will be on display at the future museum in the old Post
Office Building as part of the May 6 Tour of Historic Homes.

of Church Women will have
their annual dinner meeting
May 4 at 6 p.m. in the fellow-
ship hall of Resurrection
Lutheran Church. St. Matthew's
Lutheran Church women will
serve as hostesses.
The guest speaker will be Dr.
Susan Wilds McArver, Assistant
Professor of Educational
Ministry at Southern
Theological Seminary in
Columbia, South Carolina.
Dr. McArver, a native of
Columbia, is a graduate of
Salem College, Winston-Salem.
She received her Masters of
Arts Degree in religion from the
Lutheran Theological Seminary
and her Ph.D: from Duke
University in the field of
American Religious History.
Her particular areas of scholarly |
interest include women’s histo-
ry and the history of religion in
the South. She has published in
several religious and historical
journals.
Dr. McArver is a frequent
presenter for both academic or-
ganizations such as the the
American Society of Church
History and The American
Academy of Religion, as well as
for lay audiences in both North

Fund raisers
BM Boyce Memorial ARP Church, Kings Mountain, buffet break-
fast and yard sale April 29. Boyce Memorial is located beside Kings
Mountain Hospital. Breakfast 7-11 a.m. Adults $4, children under 12
$2. Yard sale will include two electric stoves, an electric dryer, and
more.
